The 2020 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC 2020) will be held in Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), Toronto, Ontario, Canada. SMC 2020 is the flagship conference of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society. It provides an international forum for researchers and practitioners to report most recent innovations and developments, summarize state-of-the-art, and exchange ideas and advances in all aspects of systems science and engineering, human machine systems, and cybernetics. Likewise in other scientific field, these types of modeling methodologies showed to be precise and accurate.

  • Understanding, modeling and optimizing vacancy engineering for stable highly boron-doped ultrashallow junctions

    This work presents breakthrough results on the physics, modeling and application of ion-implanted vacancies for high-performance B-doped ultrashallow junctions. We demonstrate for the first time electrically active B concentrations approaching 10<sup>21</sup>/cm<sup>3</sup>, achieved by low- temperature annealing, without preamorphisation. Source/drain (S/D) junctions formed by advanced vacancy engineering implants (VEI) are activated far above solubility, are stable with respect to deactivation, and are practically diffusionless. Furthermore sheet resistance R<sub>s</sub> is predicted to stay almost constant with decreasing junction depth X<sub>j</sub> outperforming other S/D engineering approaches beyond the 45 nm node

  • Preliminary Analysis on Landscape Pattern of Laoshan District, Qingdao

    Based on field investigation and verification, land-use types of Laoshan District are divided into the beach, river beach, reservoirs, fish pond, coniferous forest, cultivated woody vegetation, cultivated herbaceous vegetation, industrial land, public building land and residential land. Some conclusions are found that: the spatial variation of land-use types in Laoshan District is very significant; landscape pattern and structure of Laoshan District show strong regularity in space: from northeast to southwest, topography vegetation, hydrology and other geographical factors changes with altitude. Meanwhile, population distribution and socio-economic development also have a huge difference. Human activities mainly concentrate in the plain areas and the transition zone of plains and hills, the spatial differences of land-use type and intensity result in evolution of landscape pattern and structure. The landscape heterogeneity analysis suggests that landscapepsilas diversity index and Dominance index of Laoshan District belong to a relative high level, but its Evenness index is quite low because of the spatial heterogeneity of land-usetype.

  • Abrasive process machine simulation model, a discrete and continuous approach

    Abrasive machining is commonly defined as a process to remove material by the action of sharp grain of abrasive mineral in order to obtain a final desired shape and surface quality. Therefore, it is considered one of the most important processes in the wood industry. The use of simulation on the most critical process in the wood industry would definitely help to obtain a better understanding of the processes and the effect of changes such as equipments, operators, and raw material, as well as others in the processes. The objective of this research is to simulate an abrasive machine commonly used in wood machining to have a better understanding of the behavior of the main variables that significantly affect the sanding process when change in time. The model uses a large amount of equations (650f) to predict the behavior of the abrasive process. Moreover, the model not only integrates continuous and discrete simulation, but also, it can be interactive (the operator learning curve can be introduced into the model), and includes stochastic considerations in operation time, maintenance, repairs, etc.

  • A method of detecting 3D object orientation by multiview models

    The problem of determining the approximate orientation of an object from multiview models is considered for the case in which the number of models if fixed but the viewing angles are arbitrary. The multiview models include the height and width of each projected image of a 3D object, topological information based on the edge image, some region information and the angles of each projected image. Assuming there is only one object being considered, an image is input in an arbitrary viewing direction (camera focal length and the distance between the camera and the object are known) and processed to obtain the edge image. The edge image coordinate data are transformed into normalized data with respect to focal length and distance. The height and width of the object are compared with the models' height and width to determine a set of candidates, and topological and region information are used for further matching to detect the approximate orientation. In their experiment the authors built the multiview models from 16 viewing angles, each roughly equal to 22.5 degrees .<<ETX>>
