    In this paper, the methodology for object oriented (OO) projection of the software architecture is introduced and an object model of a conventional semiconductor device is described from its fabrication technology point of view. Also, the development of the standard Windows 95/NT application by using Visual BASIC 6.0 and OO programming concepts is presented. The application is intended to be a technology process editor and simulator based on multiparticle diffusion simulation by an adaptive multigrid method. In order to illustrate exploitation of the simulator in use, a processing example of a NMOS silicon gate is shown.

    At present, many programs of water and sediment mathematical models with better practicability and commonality are compiled with FORTRAN, and it is difficult to rewrite them. With the design concept of out-process server, object-oriented programming method and COM component technology, a integrated system is set up which has the functions of parameterized modeling, real-time dynamic display, visualization in scientific computing. Mathematical model needs hardly modifying and the independence of research of mathematical model is retained to a maximum extent in this method. As for the present situation, this is surely one of realistic and effective ways of making great use of the achievements of mathematical models to realize visualization and propel functions of numerical simulation systems in the whole.

  • Frequency Spectrum of the Generated Voltage of Claw Pole Automotive Alternators on No Load

    The harmonic spectrum of generated voltage in claw pole automotive alternators has to be examined since the load components in future automobiles have to be rated for over-voltages and transients. The present work gives a new 3D finite element modeling and simulation along with a conventional analysis supplemented by experimental work on a 12 pole claw pole alternator. Further work is indicated for a shape search to optimize the claw pole profile.

  • Wind turbine power electronics and electrical machines: On lightning protection simulation

    This paper presents an overview of wind energy in Portugal and briefly describes the Portuguese Lightning Location System. Some aspects of lightning activity in Portugal are discussed. The method for risk assessment due to lightning flashes to earth is performed by the computer program LPS 2008 developed in Visual Basic by the authors. LPS 2008 is based on well established standards and on the Rolling Sphere Method. LPS 2008 draws in 3D the most vulnerable points to lightning of a structure. A case study is presented to illustrate the protection measures resulting from this methodology, reducing damages due to lightning effects in power electronics and electrical machines to acceptable levels.

  • Cross platform SCA component using C++ Builder and Kylix

    A cross-platform component for EPICS Simple Channel Access (SCA) has been developed. EPICS client programs with GUI become portable at their C++ source- code level both on Windows and Linux by using Borland C++ Builder 6 and Kylix 3 on these platforms respectively.
