DPP signal fluctuation was suppressed to one-third (6% to 2%), and satisfactory readout jitters (about 8%) were obtained for a triple-layered BD.

Among these satellite image processing methods, image quality assessment is quite important because images may contain many different types of noise like blur, radiated noise, stray light, et.al., which have a bad effect on the subsequent image processing. In this paper, we propose a new Indicator System to value the image quality aiming at solving the problem of satellite image assessment. In the procedure, we use the Support Vector Regression (SVR) machine as the decision algorithm to compute the score of the image quality.

Curved and straight waveguides are characterized for their insertion loss mainly due to propagation, radiation, and transition. For the integrated system, real-time absorbance measurement of fluorescein streams yields a linear response 250 muM and with a limit of detection <50 muM. The amount of stray light has been reduced with the 90deg curved waveguide configuration and shows a two-fold increase of sensitivity in the absorbance measurement as compared with straight waveguides configuration.

  • Light-Propagation-Efficiency Evaluation Method by Using a Pinhole for Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording

The experimentally measured light-propagation efficiency of the waveguide was 83% of the design value.

  • Scanning IQE-measurement for accurate current determination on very large area solar cells

    We developed a setup to measure the quantum efficiency and integral reflectance for large area solar cells where the cell is scanned underneath a 2/spl times/2 cm/sup 2/ illuminated area defined by a mask. Measurements with 90 wavelengths between 300 and 1200 nm on 12.5 /spl times/ 12.5 cm/sup 2/ solar cells are obtained in less than 15 minutes with very low noise due to the good signal-to-bias ratio. A self-consistent scaling procedure based on the analysis of the internal quantum efficiency is used to account for scaling errors due to the electrical measurement and stray light. This analysis also provides data which enable the calculation of the current loss in the emitter of the solar cell. A method is introduced to identify the bias light level at which the small signal quantum efficiency coincides with the integral large signal response eliminating the need to take the complete quantum efficiency for many bias levels.

    The paper concerns about the principle and the optimizing design method for optical system of micro fiber spectrometer, which suits for stray light detection of bioluminescence detecting systems. By choosing asymmetrical crossed czerny-turner (CZ) configuration as the basic optical structure and selecting system parameters according to the allowance of system's aberrations and the dimensions of CCD detector, we developed a micro fiber spectrometer based on planar grating with a working wavelength range between 330 nm and 930 nm. system's spectral resolution is up to at least 0.5 nm according to actual measurement (50 um).

  • EO-1 Advanced Land Imager stray light analysis and impact on flight data

    The EO-1 Advanced Land Imager (ALI) was developed under NASA's New Millennium Program. The ALI is validating new technologies and measurement techniques for application to future wide field-of-view, non-cryogenically cooled, pushbroom Earth observing systems. Extensive pre flight measurements of the BRDF for the optical elements were made. These data were used in a system level analysis to assess the impact of stray light on flight observations. A model was developed to estimate the error in measured scene radiance as a function of the ratio of scene radiance to background radiance. This effect can be significant for scenes with high contrast. A quantification of the ALI stray light characteristics based on preflight measurements and flight observations will be presented. The impact of stray light on the radiometric accuracy of in- flight data will be compared to the model.

  • Effect of terrestrial stray light on observed solar magnetic signal

    Terrestrial stray light is a troublesome problem for its serious effects on the ground-based measurement of solar photosphere magnetic field. In theory, it could be divided into large-spread-angle stray light (>10") and small- spread-angle stray light (~1"). In this paper we emphasize on the former and study its variation during a day of observation at Huairou Solar Observing Station of Nation Astronomical Observatories of Chinese Academy of Sciences. We find a close correlation between the measured magnetic field and variation of local stray light.
