Web based Image search engine is a contrivance using that re-ranking of numerous images from web is possible as well as matching of images in semantic space for which attributes and reference classes are possible. Nowadays, with user search intention web search engine provide set of relevant as well as irrelevant Images to user and then user select query Image from pool and then remaining Images are re-rank based on their visual similarities. These visual similarities of images do not well correlate with Images semantic meaning and this is main drawback with current web search engine. However, learning visual semantic meaning of Images that used to characterize high-definition Images from web is very difficult task. So, In this paper we propose unique web Image re-ranking framework that offline and online learned Images visual and semantic meaning regarding with numerous query keywords. These visual and semantic meaning of Images extended to visual semantic space of Image to get visual semantic signatures. The proposed framework improved Images accuracy and efficiency. The semantic meaning of Images can be relatively smaller than original visual features of Images.

Query results cache is an effective technology to improve the performance of Web search engines. In this paper, we conducted an analysis of Web search engine query logs from SOGOU Inc. to explore some issues of query results cache for Web search engines including the locality of Web search engine workload and the impact of cache replace policy. We also conducted a series of experiments on query results cache with a variety of cache capacity and cache replacement policy settings. Experimental results showed that when there are only a small number of historical query logs, it would be better to choose a dynamic policy, and hybrid cache approach had significant improvement than any other policies in smaller cache capacity.

This paper proposes a method to evaluate the trust and significance of web pages based on social bookmarks. Extending the HITS approach, we regard web pages as Authority and users as Hubs and evaluate trust and significance values of web pages. We show usefulness of the proposed approach through experiments.
The increased use of Web resources has created a need for more efficient and useful search methods. The current mechanisms for assisting the search and retrieval process are quite limited, mainly because they lack access to documents semantics and because of the underlying difficulties in providing suitable search patterns. This paper proposes intelligent indexing of text documents by classifying a text document based on its content and the presentation style of the content of the text document. Design and implementation of few indexing algorithms and searching algorithms on text documents are presented with a discussion on the advantages and limitations of each of the algorithms.
Sina Weibo has become an increasingly critical social media in China for sharing latest news, marketing new products, and discussing controversial issues. The rising importance of Sina Weibo on the society makes it very important to understand “what”, “when”, “who” on hot topics that are being continuously tweeted and searched by millions of active users. In this paper, we develop a systematic approach to characterize temporal distribution of hot topics searched by Sina Weibo users over a four-month time-span and to uncover correlated hot topics that are not only tweeted by the same users, but also appear in the similar set of tweet messages. We analyze real-time Sina Weibo tweet data streams and study volume correlations and temporal gaps between user searches and tweeting activities on hot topics. In addition, we examine the correlations between hot topic searches on social media and on search engines to understand hot topics and user behaviors across different platforms. Given the challenges of analyzing massive amount of tweet data, we explore Hadoop MapReduce framework to effectively process millions of tweets from the collected data-sets, and quantify the performance benefits of MapReduce on analyzing tweet streams. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first effort to characterize temporal search patterns of hot topics on Sina Weibo and to study their correlations with tweeting data streams as well as search engine statistics.
Privacy preservation is one of the major issue in digital products. In current era, web search engine has become vital tool for internet users. However, most search engines maintains user profile and analyze them which could compromise privacy. In order to preserve the user privacy from a search engine, many privacy preserving solution have been proposed including query obfuscation, anonymizing networks and Peer to Peer Private Information Retrieval Protocols. However, first two solutions cannot preserve user privacy completely and they have their own drawbacks as well, while the Peer-to-Peer Private Information Retrieval protocols are passing through evolution stage. The focus of this paper is to evaluate and quantify the techniques use to preserve privacy by two major protocols of Private Information Retrieval protocols including Useless User Profile and User Private Information Retrieval. In this research association rule mining technique is used to expose the source of query of interest. Each protocol is simulated under varying parameters of Group Size, Number of Query of Interest and association rule mining Window Size over the released data of American Online. The results shows that on the average the proposed adversarial model exposed 85.34% and 80.75% Query of Interest source correctly of Useless User Profile and User Private Information Retrieval protocol respectively. Similarly based on results, it is also concluded that less number of Query of Interest submitted by a user and large groups size offer more protection to the user.
Large organizations contain huge structured and unstructured data. This data need to be analyzed and retrieved as a part of their daily business. Data extractor that depends on entity recognition to extract data from documents and converts it into structured database can solve the problem of searching in unstructured data. In addition, semantic search engines that use query expansion to extract results that are more informative can solve the problem of polysemy and synonymy. This paper proposes a complete solution to solve these problems. An Arabic semantic search engine is proposed which consists of four components (data extractor, taxonomy builder, database indexer, and search engine). The system is applied on a real case study of a large governmental organization's database. The results show superior performance compared to other solutions. It gives good measures for the F-score and gives a mean average precision of 0.8.
This paper proposes a two-level caching strategy for Web search queries which is devised to operate on P2P networks. The aim is to significantly reduce query traffic going from a large community of users to commercial search engines by placing between them a P2P caching service capable of storing and efficiently distributing frequent queries among users. The proposed design takes into consideration the highly dynamic nature of user queries both in traffic intensity and drastic shifts in user interest which are both usually driven by unpredictable world-wide events. Each peer maintains a LRU result cache (RCache) used to keep the answers for queries originated in the peer itself and queries for which the peer is responsible for by contacting on- demand a Web search engine to get the query answers. When query traffic is predominantly routed to a few responsible peers our strategy replicates the role of ``being responsible for" to neighboring peers so that they can absorb part of the traffic to restore load balance. This is a fairly slow and adaptive process that we call mid-term load balancing. To achieve a short-term fair distribution of queries we introduce in each peer a location cache (LCache) which keeps pointers to peers that have already requested the same queries in the very recent past. This lets these peers share their query answers with newly requesting peers. This process is fast as these popular queries are usually cached in the first DHT hop of a requesting peer which quickly tends to redistribute load among more and more peers. A comparative study shows that the proposed strategy achieves better load balance, significantly smaller communication volume among peers, and larger cache hit ratios than previous strategies.
