  • “E-Learning in corporations”: an elective to augment life long learning skills

The course "E-learning in corporations" is an elective for bachelor and master students. The course invites students to take on the role of a junior consultant in the field of e-learning and develop life long learning skills. The course is designed after principles of constructivism and connectivism and has a firm basis in authentic high stakes learning tasks where students are challenged to go through all the stages of a real consultancy project. The students' learning activities in the course have a direct link with the deliverables that are connected with the consultancy project. The students start off with exploring the concept of e-learning and state their own learning goals in addition to the general learning goals of the course. Next, the students explore the assignment, write a proposal and execute the project cooperating closely with the company that assigned the project and the teacher in the role of a senior advisor. Both the process and final product are assessed during and at the end of the course.

  • A Process-Oriented Modelling Technique

This paper discusses the problem of process modelling and aims to introduce a process-oriented technique called the activity table to find a better solution for the problem mentioned. This is a simple and effective technique, which is based on developing the activity table. Business process modelling is done by identifying the business processes and is continued by defining work processes and activities of each chosen business process. This technique is independent on the analyst and his/her experience. It requires that each identified activity must be connected to its resource and its successor activity and in this manner contribute a great deal in developing a process model, which represents a true reflection to actual business process. The problems of conducting a surgery and sales claim are used as examples to test our technique.

  • Working group report on information infrastructure for global and virtual enterprises

Studies IT-based methods and tools to facilitate cooperation between people working at different locations in heterogeneous environments. Several important issues related to virtual enterprises are discussed, and contributions to their resolution offered. The issues covered include: geographical distance; dynamic properties; knowledge capture and sharing; conflict management; formal verification; scalability and extendibility; and security.

  • Modelling corporate financial crisis management: optimal cashflow management in SMEs

The application of optimisation models and techniques to corporate financial crisis management is not very common, even though there are numerous theoretical and empirical models that have been applied in relation to financial optimisation theory and practice, and cashflow management techniques. This research develops a cashflow optimisation technique for SMEs in an abrupt financial crisis resulting from natural or man-made disasters such as fire, flood, storm, etc. The development and application of such a dynamic model is particularly important due to the frequency and severity of natural and man-made disasters in the various economic sectors of Australian small business communities. The implications of the model's results for financial crisis management are discussed.

  • Business consulting as a point of knowledge of digital economy

By author's definition, business consulting, aimed at achieving business success, presents equation which is composed of the following variables: innovation, education, risk management and focus of control; need for education, risk-taking and proactiveness. The paper is based on a theoretical model of how to develop a strategy in business consulting as a point of knowledge in a transition environment of South East European Countries (SEEC). Fundamental focus of the model is aimed at creating a knowledge point of fluctuating market environment. The model presents interaction among SEEC entrepreneurs' individual characteristics, cultural burden, and transition of digital economy environment, entrepreneurial ethics and influence of a political involving.

  • Study on Dynamic Management of Military Logistics System Core Competence

Military Logistics System (MLS) is the bridge of transforming national economy into military forces. On one hand, MLS is linking suppliers in the market and acquires goods from them. On the other hand, it is centralizing the demands of military customers and implementing support activities. The particular positions and roles of MLS decides that it should not only follow economic rules of commercial practice and improve procurement fund efficiency furthest, but also responds to military customers demand timely according to modern logistics support principles. On the basis of reviewing the representative standpoints both on military logistics system core competence conception and on core competence dynamic management all over the world, the authors analyze the dynamic development mechanism of MLS core competence, and then establish the dynamic management model framework for MLS core competence. In conclusion, the authors think that the most important thing is not the MLS core competence itself for MLS, but is the dynamic management capability with the characteristics of identifying MLS core competence as soon as possible, cultivating MLS core competence quickly, deploying MLS core competence actively and appraising MLS core competence in real-time.

  • A New Method for Information System Selection

A good information system (IS) makes it possible to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness, which can provide competitive advantage. Now the most of company through the purchase of existing information systems to complete the construction of enterprise information, it can save a lot of money. So the information system evaluation is an important task to the company. In this paper, an information system performance evaluation model is constructed with BSC (balance score card) which is applied to define the hierarchy with four major perspectives. In addition, this paper extends information performance evaluation base on TOPSIS and vague, where the characteristics of the alternatives are represented by vague sets. At last we give the example that suggests that the model be a good tool for solving the information system performance evaluation.
