Reemployment assistance limited

IEEE Spectrum, 1989

The need for defense industry employees to consider what kind of treatment they can expect if they are laid off-or 'redeployed', as some companies call it-is considered. The array of services to laid-off employees include: assistance in preparing resumes, training to improve interviewing skills, and counseling sessions on strategies for job searches. Many also provide a 'job skills center' in ...

Virtual Reality-Based Casting Skill Transfer and Human Resource Development

17th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence (ICAT 2007), 2007

This paper proposes a new virtual reality-based skill transfer and human resource development system for casting design, which is composed of the explicit and tacit knowledge transfer systems using synchronized multimedia and the knowledge internalization system using portable virtual environment. In our proposed system, the education content is displayed in the immersive virtual environment, whereby a trainee may experience work ...

A Three-Phased Technology Transfer Model: Lessons from Software Technology Transfer from Japan to Korea

2008 IEEE Symposium on Advanced Management of Information for Globalized Enterprises (AMIGE), 2008

Software development is quickly becoming globally distributed. Cross-country- border software development that spans across country borders is a mandatory part of software production today. In order to facilitate global coordination, the transfer of technology is a key. We analyze a successful technology transfer from one time dimension and three factor dimensions. From the lessons learned, we propose a three-phase model ...

Research of the Human Resource Management Based on the Sustainable Development of the Enterprise

2008 International Seminar on Future Information Technology and Management Engineering, 2008

In modern times, the sustainable development of human is a key ingredient to the development of the enterprise. As the best economy mode, the sustainable development is important to the transformation of the economy increasing mode. How to promote the sustainable development of the enterprises is closely related to the human resource management In the process of developing the human ...

SIS series simulator and its application in petro-chemical plant operations training

1997 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics. Computational Cybernetics and Simulation, 1997

Distillation column is the most common and very important unit in petro- chemical plant. This paper completes a 4-component and 119-plate ethene-ethane distillation column training simulator based on the microcomputers, realizes multi-component, multi-tray complex distillation process real-time simulation. In the paper, the hardware and the software of the SIS training simulator system were described. The simplified model of the column ...

  • Reemployment assistance limited

The need for defense industry employees to consider what kind of treatment they can expect if they are laid off-or 'redeployed', as some companies call it-is considered. The array of services to laid-off employees include: assistance in preparing resumes, training to improve interviewing skills, and counseling sessions on strategies for job searches. Many also provide a 'job skills center' in which employees can make telephone calls and use typewriters or personal computers to write cover letters and print out resumes as well as personal counseling for emotional or family problems due to the layoff. Programs offered by state governments are discussed. The impact of local conditions on reemployment prospects and the option of early retirement for older employees are examined.<<ETX>>

  • Virtual Reality-Based Casting Skill Transfer and Human Resource Development

This paper proposes a new virtual reality-based skill transfer and human resource development system for casting design, which is composed of the explicit and tacit knowledge transfer systems using synchronized multimedia and the knowledge internalization system using portable virtual environment. In our proposed system, the education content is displayed in the immersive virtual environment, whereby a trainee may experience work in the virtual site operation. Provided that the trainee has gained explicit and tacit knowledge of casting through the multimedia-based knowledge transfer system, the immersive virtual environment catalyzes the internalization of knowledge and also enables the trainee to gain tacit knowledge before undergoing on- the-job training at a real-time operation site.

In modern times, the sustainable development of human is a key ingredient to the development of the enterprise. As the best economy mode, the sustainable development is important to the transformation of the economy increasing mode. How to promote the sustainable development of the enterprises is closely related to the human resource management In the process of developing the human resource management, we should carry on the innovation system of the theory, science and technology in order to boost up the sustainable development. Though introducing the connotation of the human resource management on the sustainable development, this article gave the enterprises a great many suggestions of developing the human resource management. Also, the inspection system of promoting the human resource management on the sustainable development is introduced to give the enterprises a method to inspect the results.

This paper completes a 4-component and 119-plate ethene-ethane distillation column training simulator based on the microcomputers, realizes multi-component, multi-tray complex distillation process real-time simulation. In the paper, the hardware and the software of the SIS training simulator system were described. The simplified model of the column was also discussed. A real-time simulation method for simulating large, complex and long-time computation system was proposed. The training simulator finished in this paper included the basic operations, emergency procedures, startup, shutdown and other training courses of the distillation process. This paper reviews the functions, objectives and constitution of the simulator.

  • A performance system based on the balanced scorecard approach for measuring performance in a business environment

Businesses today are succeeding and growing by better understanding their customers' needs and aligning their operational processes that effectively service the customers. They are creating work processes and methods that are well linked and well operated. Utilizing a system of performance measures, they also are focusing on non-financial indicators to take advantage of key internal and external opportunities and responding to them swiftly. Beyond incremental gains, they are realizing dramatic gains in the critical areas affecting customer satisfaction, cycle time, cost, responsiveness and quality. This paper provides the reader with the architectural design and a detailed technical specification of the performance system. The proposed platform enables the implementation of performance systems on top of preexisting, already running, information and workflow systems that support the daily business of the enterprise. The performance system is a Web-based application that covers the functions needed to create a performance data mall, measurement tools and associated visual interfaces. It is developed using the Microsoft Active Server Pages technology. The data mall is implemented in an MS Set Server 7.0, which is accessed through Active Data Objects (ADO) 2.1.

  • Aircrew embedded training

A discussion is presented of the applications of the concept of embedded training for advanced military aircrew training. Three prototype embedded training programs in various phases of development are reviewed. Also reviewed is the current state-of-the-art in advanced simulation and range system technologies. Simulators, ranges, and embedded training are discussed with respect to their ability to satisfy a nominal tactical engagement. Each is found to have its own particular shortfalls. Current embedded training applications are found to have one thing in common with simulation: in general, both are presently limited to single-ship training capabilities. Embedded training is discussed not as a low-cost alternative to simulators and ranges but rather as an adjunct whose cost and effectiveness remain to be demonstrated.<<ETX>>
