The 2020 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC 2020) will be held in Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), Toronto, Ontario, Canada. SMC 2020 is the flagship conference of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society. It defines the HLA, its components, and the rules that outline the responsibilities of HLA federates and federations to ensure a consistent implementation. Simulations are abstractions of the real world, and no one simulation can solve all of the functional needs for the modeling and simulation community. It is anticipated that technology advances will allow for new and different modeling and simulation (M&S) implementations within the framework of the HLA. The standards contained in this architecture are interrelated and need to be considered as a product set, as a change in one is likely to have an impact on the others. As such, the HLA is an integrated approach that has been developed to provide a common architecture for simulation.

    Web users have been mainly relying on Web search engines to find information of interest on the Web. However, two key issues remain with traditional Web search engines: the browsability of searching results and the capacity of Web coverage. The long ranked list presentation of search results, which is widely adopted by the industry adds a layer of confusion to users, especially when the number of matches returned from search engines can easily exceed ten thousand level. We designed an agent system based on hierarchically structural approach for organizing Web search results coupled with a metasearch approach for Web searching. The metasearch approach would help us extract the best of the Web from a larger Web coverage; and our ontological approach is aimed at providing a mechanism to categorize search results in a semantic hierarchical organization, and allow users to find target information in a progressive and interactive manner.

  • Change aware distributed file system for a distributed search engine

    Intranet information retrieval is very important for discovering useful knowledge. In this process, the search engine is useful. However, conventional search engines, which are based on a centralized architecture, are not suited for intranet information retrieval because intranet information is frequently updated. Centralized search engines take a long time to collect Web pages by robots. So, we have developed a distributed search engine, the cooperative search engine (CSE), to retrieve fresh information. In CSE, a local search engine located in each Web server makes an index of local pages. And, a meta search server integrates these local search engines to realize a global search engine. CSE takes a few minutes to update the index because each local search engine scans all files in its own disk. In this paper, we propose a notification mechanism using a change aware distributed file system. As a result, we realize real-time information retrieval

  • Global integration of visual databases

    Different visual databases have been designed in various locations. The global integration of such databases can enable users to access data across the world in a transparent manner. In this paper, we investigate an approach to the design and creation of an integrated information system which supports global visual query access to various visual databases over the Internet. Specifically, a metaserver, including a hierarchical metadatabase, a metasearch agent and a query manager, is designed to support such an integration. The metadatabase houses abstracted data about individual remote visual databases. To support visual content-based queries, the abstracted data in the metadatabase reflect the semantics of each visual database. The query manager extracts the feature contents from the queries. The metasearch agent processes the queries by matching their feature contents with the metadata. A list of relevant database sites is derived for efficient retrieval of the query in the selected databases. The performance of the system is refined based on the user's feedback. The proposed system is implemented using Java in a Web-based environment.

    Meta-search engine usually lacks own independent backstage database, relying on the database system of underlying independent search engine to provide users with information services. The information services that meet the complex and advanced demand retrieval of customers shows considerable constraints and inadequate. One of the means of improvement is the use of the distributed data mining tools more scientifically and reasonably, setting up its distributed data mining systems, and making use of CDM system thought, agent technology based on advanced mobile and some of the key technologies in the whole system.

  • An Implemented Rank Merging Algorithm for Meta Search Engine

    In order to improve the precision of meta search engine, In the foundation of analysis two kinds traditional merging algorithm of meta search engine, and the disadvantage of two algorithms are given, one kind of new about the results merging method based on the combination of position and snippets/titles is proposed. which integrates these two factors, the related degree between the position information of query results and the query words, the similarity between query results' snippets and the query words. Then take a popular measure for evaluating the effectiveness of search engines to analysis the results, The results of the experiment show that, the average precision of this method is higher than popular component search engines now, and it also proved that result merging in a meta search engine, considering the information of the position and title/snippet of the search results at one time, the accuracy of the meta search engine will be better.

  • Abstract Recommendation with Assistance of Interactive User Profile Extraction

    Abstraction and user-profile-based search are two important topics in information retrieval. In this paper, we combine these two problems together, and present a user-profile-based meta search system with which the user can read the abstracts of preferred documents. The user profile is represented as list of words, which are either given directly by the user or generated automatically by the system from the user's reading history.
