    In this paper it puts forward and studies a new kind 6 PUS-UPS/UPU parallel manipulator. The mechanical structure is simple, and can achieve high rigidity, high precision machining and can also be used to vision measure and force control research, redundant control study. Firstly, the degree of freedom about the parallel manipulator is analyzed by using the screw theory. Then according to the geometrical characteristics of institutions and D-H method, the kinematics of the parallel manipulator is analyzed. Open architecture composed of IPC and PMAC is adopted for the kinematics control system hardware. The control software, based on Windows OS, is designed with the functional modularization. The prototype of the parallel manipulator is developed. The debugging and machining experiments are performed.

The hammer can deliver tendon taps with selected velocities, durations, frequencies and excursions. Preliminary results for both soleus and flexor carpi radialis muscles show that impact velocity is an important variable in eliciting tendon reflexes. As expected, the tendon reflex amplitude was also found to be dependent on excursion depth, but not as significantly as hammer velocity. Other stimulus paradigms are also presently being investigated

  • Comparison Between Stator Current and Estimated Mechanical Speed for the Detection of Bearing Wear in Asynchronous Drives

    This paper deals with the detection of worn rolling bearings in asynchronous machines using electrical measurements and estimated mechanical variables. These two approaches are based on the use of the available electrical quantities, e.g., the machine stator currents, which are often already measured for control and protection purposes. Considering that bearing faults induce load-torque oscillations, a theoretical stator-current model, in case of load-torque oscillations, is recalled. Then, a theoretical estimated rotor flux and estimated speed model demonstrates the presence of harmonics related to load-torque oscillations. Phase-modulation components on stator current and harmonics on estimated speed can be used for detection purposes. The frequency behavior of monitored quantities with regard to the load-torque oscillation frequency is particularly investigated. Fault detectors are then proposed on monitored variables. The efficiency of the indicators is studied for different operating points considering the frequency behavior of the system. Finally, the use of detectors is discussed regarding the supply-frequency range usable for the detection.

  • Investigation of the Measure and Control Method for Vibration of the Variable-Frequency Precisely Cropping Machine

    An effective measure and control method is necessary in the cropping machine which utilizes the variable-frequency vibration to shear bar with low stress. Based on the analysis of the principle of the cropping machine, the hardware of the measurement and control system is built up. A piezoelectric sensor and charge amplifier are employed to collect the vibration characteristic of the cropping machine through a PCL 818L data card. The software of measurement and control for vibration is programmed based on the LabVIEW, whose main interface is friendly and practical. According to the perfect results of the cropping experiments, the presented measure and control method for the cropping machine is effective. A good foundation for further investigation on the principle of the cropping machine is established.

  • Evaluation of laser probe performances for measuring cross-coupling in 1-3 piezocomposite arrays

    This paper deals with cross-coupling in 1-3 piezocomposite arrays. Four array configurations are tested. Measurements of surface displacement are performed with a laser interferometer. Experimental results are given with several graphic representation in order to interpret them in terms of cross-coupling mechanisms:temporal displacement profile, time/space and frequency/space cartographies of displacements and dispersion curves of Lamb waves in piezocomposite arrays. Effects of the fluid medium on each of these characteristics are discussed. Effective width of the excited element is determined and all plate modes involved in the mechanical coupling are identified and referenced.

  • The determination of the viscoelastic properties of liquid materials at ultrasonic frequencies by CW mode impedance measurements

    A method is described for measuring shear mechanical properties of liquids at ultrasonic frequencies. The method is based on the process of the electrical impedance of a sensor in contact with the liquid. The sensor is composed of a piezoelectric transducer bonded to a delay line. The process determines the complex reflection coefficient of shear waves reflecting from the delay line- liquid interface, and the mechanical impedance is deduced. Experimental determination of dynamic shear properties of a series of saccharose solutions is presented as an example of the method.
