However, the anxiety of the destruction of electrical/electro-mechanical/electronic devices has enhanced due to the development of different types of EM weapons. EM weapons, a man- made device, can generate Mega Watts of Power at least 40 km above earth's surface and could damage all equipments underneath in a radius of 30 kms. The kill probability is devastating for ground equipment as well as electronics configured for Air-borne and Satellite borne equipments. This paper presents the analysis of a satellite communication system and various prevention mechanism to shield the equipment from the potential threat of EM weapon/EMP generated due to nuclear burst.
