  • Gradient model based P2P VoD content distribution policy

    P2P based VoD (Video on Demand) system has low cost, high scalability and high video quality features, which make it become one of the most popular research hotspots and evolution trends. Content distribution policy is the key point of P2P VoD technology. Against the problems of data scheduling policy priority and node performance difference in content distribution, this paper researched the influence of scheduling policies for network performance information, the degree of content scarcity and broadcast emergency, and on the basis, the gradient model based data distribution policy is proposed. Through the utilization of distributed gradient model strategy, sender start strategy and receiver start strategy, each node interacts only with the part of nodes to reduce the conflict caused by the load balance. Experiment proved that our policy improves content delivery speeds and reduces the network load.

  • Probability of hitting a specified target region with three-dimensional correlated random variables and aim point offset from the target

    This paper provides a numerical solution for calculating the probability of hitting a specified target region, with the assumptions: (1) the aim point has an offset from the target, (2) the surrounding area of the target can be spherical or ellipsoidal, and (3) the joint probability density function is trivariate normal with non-zero means and non-zero correlation coefficient. A less general form of this type of problem has been solved by approximation for the offset but uncorrelated case. More recently, D.Y. Hsu solved the no-offset but correlated case of this problem [1999], and the two dimensional version of this general problem [2000]. A summary of these previous methods is given in the Appendix. In this paper a method for solving the general probability-of- hitting problem is presented. The problem is general in that both the correlation between three sets of two random variables and the offset between the target and aim point are included in the problem formulation.

  • A multi-bit /spl Delta//spl Sigma/ audio DAC with 120 dB dynamic range

    The growth of consumer 24 b audio formats such as DVD has increased the demand for low-cost audio DACs with wide dynamic range and high linearity. Multi-bit /spl Sigma//spl Delta/ modulation offers advantages for such high-end performance including relaxed out-of-band filtering requirements, smaller idle-channel tones, and reduced sensitivity to clock jitter but requires dynamic element matching (DEM) to correct nonlinearity in the internal multi- bit DAC. The key goals for DAC reported here are 120 dB dynamic range with power dissipation low enough for a stereo implementation in a low-cost plastic package, and minimized DEM die area overhead.

  • Optimum relay location in cooperative communication networks with single DF relay

    In wireless communication, the cooperative communications technology has been concern because of its advantages of spatial diversity. In particular, cooperative communication with a single relay is a simple, practical technology for wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we analyze several simple network topologies. Under the condition of equal power allocating, the optimum relay locations are respectively determined by using symbol error rate (SER) formula. And these types of topologies are compared, the analysis results show that, Linear network topology has the best system performance, the system performance of isosceles triangle topology is better than that of equilateral triangle topology.

  • 3D Reconstruction through Measure Based Image Selection

    3D reconstruction is one of the research focus of computer vision and widely applied in various fields. The main steps of 3D reconstruction include image acquisition, image selection, feature point extraction and matching, calculation of camera parameters and 3D coordinates of the scene, and production of dense 3D scene models. Of all the steps, the image selection step is necessary and important. In this paper, a new 3D reconstruction algorithm consisting of four main steps is proposed and its main contribution is that the image selection step uses a new effective method. The new image selection method first uses structure-from-motion (SFM) algorithms to calculate the position and attitude of each camera, and then calculates the contributed value to 3D reconstruction of each image, finally selects images according to the contributed value of each image and their effects on contributed values of other images. Experimental results show that the 3D reconstruction algorithm proposed in this paper can reconstruct target scenes very well.
