In this paper author aim to study Ethernet 802.11 with other Media Access Layer protocol on simulator GNS3 based on the Qos Model specification with TCP network connection. Here one will capture all the incoming data packet on one time TCP connection and then getting the result of Lost Packets, Received Packet, Delayed Packets and overall through put performance will be measured at MAC layer with the help of designed Qos Model one are not only evaluating performance but also rectifying the addressing scheme used for the delivery of data packet.

  • A new architecture for multicasting live IPTV traffic in ethernet passive optical network

    Internet protocol TV (IPTV) is one of the important multimedia applications for the next-generation network. IPTV can provide triple play services that require high-speed access networks with the functions of multicasting and Quality-of-Services (QoS) guarantee to provide attractive services. In the access networks, Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) is regarded as one of the best solutions to meet the higher bandwidth demands. In this paper, we propose a new multicasting mechanism for IPTV in EPON by assigning a unique logical link identifier (LLID) to each IPTV channel requested by users. In our architecture, three tables in optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network units (ONU) are constructed in the reconciliation sub-layer (RS) of ONUs and OLT to handle the IPTV requests. Traffic classifier and IPTV controller components are introduced in the proposed architecture to handle the live IPTV request. Simulation results have shown that our proposed mechanism can improve the QoS metrics in terms of bandwidth consumption, packet loss, and queue length.

This paper studies and proposes an integrated communication platform solution which integrates optical fiber communication, power line carrier communication and wireless communication. The solution has characteristics of uniform network management, flexible configuration and strong adaptability, which can fulfill the requirements of the SCADA system of multiform PV power station.

  • Fast synchronization algorithm for the Forward Error Correction in IEEE Standard 802.3

    A shortened cyclic code (known as Forward Error Correction [FEC]) aimed at increasing link budget and Bit Error Rate (BER) performance is introduced in section 74 of IEEE Standard 802.3. FEC is widely used in High Speed Serdes communication applications like 10G/40G Ethernet. This paper proposes a synchronize algorithm for chip implementation which quickly detect the boundary of the received code block. Compared with the algorithm outlined in the 802.3 standard, the proposed one improves synchronization time by three orders of magnitude.

  • Traffic load heterogeneity in WDM EPONs

    Heterogeneity in terms of traffic load can severely degrade the performance of WDM PON networks. In this paper, we propose a new granting scheme called Individual Maximum Windows (IMW) that grants optical network units (ONU) by tacking traffic load dissimilarity into account. The IMW employs multiple maximum transmission windows algorithm and reduces traffic load dissimilarity effect, thus resulting in increasing the network performance and decreasing packet drop ratio.

  • Network Energy Efficiency in the data center

    Data center energy-use has been a leading topic in computing for more than a decade. In 2006, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted a study to understand data center energy-use trends and recommended a systems- wide approach to achieving energy efficiency. In the same year the IEEE began work on Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE), which completed in 2010, producing another tool in the energy-efficiency solution set. While IEEE 802.3az™-2010 specifies EEE for twisted-pair copper and backplane interface, this paper examines the motivation for energy-efficient networking in data centers, the role Energy-Efficient Ethernet could have in making the data center network energy-proportional, and how EEE combined with optical networks may optimize network energy-use.

  • Analysis of emerging technology for DC-enabled smart homes

    The parallel growth of intelligent home automation and small-scale DC distribution has presented new opportunities to improve the functionality and performance of residential spaces. A “smart home” of the future will feature advancements in two essential layers of the house infrastructure: the power distribution layer and the information technology (IT) layer. This paper will discuss implementations of these two layers and present technologies that can conveniently and safely unite them, reducing expense and accelerating the adoption of smart home concepts.

  • The delay and fairness study of a centralised EPON DBA algorithm

    Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) is one of the most promising technologies for FTTX deployed by service providers at the access network. Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA) for the upstream traffic can help optimize the network bandwidth utilization. This paper discusses a centralized DBA called as Universal DBA (UDBA) algorithm that supports quality of service (QoS) of the upstream traffic. UDBA algorithm is compared with other DBA algorithm to prove its advantages. It shows that UDBA algorithm improves upon expedited forwarding, assured forwarding and best effort delay on average 62.2%, 36.3%, and 23.1% respectively. The fairness index of UDBA algorithm is improved as high as 5.4%.
