  • A model for information support of environmental management systems

A review of the literature of environmental management systems has shown a steady development of theory supporting the production of well supported environmental management systems integrated to enterprise information systems. Research into the differences between Australian Chief Financial Officers and Information Systems Managers has shown that there is a gap between company policy on environmental management systems and existing information support for them. This paper reports on the research covering Australia's top 150 companies and preliminary results of interviews of responsible officers. A model is presented which draws on the literature and research findings. This model brings a systems focus to the problem of integrating information systems with environmental management systems so as to achieve organisational goals.

  • Application of Artificial Immune System in Constructing a Financial Early Warning System: An Example of Taiwanese Banking Industry

In recent decades, soft computing techniques have broadly applied to solve complex problems. Among the soft computing techniques, artificial immune system (AIS) have appeared as a new approach dealing with classification problems. In this paper, an AIS algorithm is developed and applied to a two- group classification problem. An example of Taiwanese banking industry is discussed and the financial ratios of each bank from 1998 to 2002 were collected. This system has to distinguish the operational performance (good or bad) of each bank to offer a reference material for the managers or investors. The performance of AIS is compared with other five early warning systems, namely, genetic neural networks (GNN), case-based reasoning (CBR), backpropagation neural network (BPN), logistic regression analysis (LR), and quadratic discriminant analysis (QDA). The result indicates that the proposed AIS is over 10% better than the three soft computing early warning systems (GNN, CBR and BPN). The AIS outperforms the statistical early warning systems (LR and QDA) at least 24%.

  • The Research on Informatization of Construction Project Cost Control

At present most of the domestic cost of construction enterprises still remain in control of the extensive experience of management, various business agency cost data is quite scattered, decision-makers can not have real-time dynamic cost of the project. In the information age, the use of informatization on the method of construction project costs of dynamic control is particularly important. The establishment of cost control and information platform is the way to achieve it, this platform integrated the information of cost data, operators, computer hardware and software and corresponding methods, its core is the information of cost data.

  • The Research on the Influence Factors for Fitness between Technology Strategy and Corporate Strategy

Technology itself doesnpsilat guarantee a success in financial performance. The fitness between technology strategy and corporate strategy ensures the successful deployment of a companypsilas technological capability and enhances the companypsilas financial performance. Based on an investigation on 121 Chinese technology-based firms through questionnaires and further data analysis, it reveals that corporate environment, top management team, technology resources, internal convergence ability of firms have a positive relation with the fitness between technology strategy and corporate strategy.
