Study on how the central bank guard against the risk of exchange rate: Based on VaR model

ICSSSM12, 2012

Since the 1970's, Developing countries have begun to introduce structural economic liberalization and stable macroeconomic plan, but these attempts do not achieve the expected effects in the short term. While the external environment is becoming increasingly complex, fixed exchange rate system began to appear collapse and Monetary crisis has appeared. Especially since the 1980's, the international financial crisis began frequently. ...

Notice of Retraction<br>Study on RMB offshore financial market of Hong Kong

2011 International Conference on Business Management and Electronic Information, 2011

It is essential to develop RMB offshore financial market in the process of promoting RMB internationalization. Hong Kong becomes the perfect place for constructing RMB offshore financial market due to its natural geography, developed business, strong infrastructure, a perfect system and other advantages. At present, the basic architecture of RMB offshore financial market in Hong Kong has been prepared well ...

The cryptoanarchists' answer to cash

IEEE Spectrum, 2012

There's nothing like a dollar bill for paying a stripper. Anonymous, yet highly personal-wherever you use it, that dollar will fit the occasion. Purveyors of Internet smut, after years of hiding charges on credit cards, or just giving it away for free, recently found their own version of the dollar-a new digital currency called Bitcoin.

On the multiway relay channel with direct links

2014 IEEE Information Theory Workshop (ITW 2014), 2014

This paper studies the extension of the multiway relay channel model with restricted encoders (introduced by Gündüz et al.) by adding unit-gain intra- cluster links. In this model, multiple clusters of users communicate with the help of one relay and the users within a cluster wish to exchange messages among themselves. We obtain achievable rates and gaps to the cut-set ...

Chinese Exchange Rate Forecasting Based on the Application of Grey System DGM(2, 1) Model in Post-Crisis Era

2010 3rd International Conference on Information Management, Innovation Management and Industrial Engineering, 2010

Taking RMB exchange rate to YEN from December 2009 to June 2010 for example, grey system DGM (2, 1) model is employed to explore and forecast the exchange rate changing trend empirically. Based on the simulation and computation process, the forecasting accuracy is high to 95.84% and the computing works and pre-forecasting information are small and little, so it indicates ...

  • Study on how the central bank guard against the risk of exchange rate: Based on VaR model

The traditional monetary crisis model has general lack of quantitative analysis of the monetary system and real-time evaluation. Thus, apply the VaR method to exchange rate risk assessment has stronger reality, it can make scientific quantitative analysis of the exchange rate risk, then make the central bank's supervision more effective.

  • Notice of Retraction<br>Study on RMB offshore financial market of Hong Kong

It is essential to develop RMB offshore financial market in the process of promoting RMB internationalization. Hong Kong becomes the perfect place for constructing RMB offshore financial market due to its natural geography, developed business, strong infrastructure, a perfect system and other advantages. At present, the basic architecture of RMB offshore financial market in Hong Kong has been prepared well but the scale is not big enough. The architecture includes cash circulation, settlement system, financial credit, financial security and its derived products. Therefore, the cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong is so important to promote its development rapidly.

  • Chinese Exchange Rate Forecasting Based on the Application of Grey System DGM(2, 1) Model in Post-Crisis Era

Taking RMB exchange rate to YEN from December 2009 to June 2010 for example, grey system DGM (2, 1) model is employed to explore and forecast the exchange rate changing trend empirically. Based on the simulation and computation process, the forecasting accuracy is high to 95.84% and the computing works and pre-forecasting information are small and little, so it indicates the effectiveness of DGM (2, 1) model. And the forecasting change trend is in line with the actual situations, which proves the robustness of the forecasting model. Summing up the two aspects, the applicability of the grey system DGM (2, 1) model can be revealed significantly.

  • Whether cheap wage or cheap RMB affects China's processing trade more deeply

Since China's reform and opening up, the rapid development of processing trade has made positive contributions to China's economic development. Development of processing trade in China is mainly affected by two factors. One is the low wages in enterprises engaging in processing trade, the other is the undervalued RMB exchange rate. This paper aims to reveal the respective effect of the two factors on the export of processing trade in China. This paper takes use of time-series econometric model and the empirical analysis shows that the improvement of wage level can raise China's processing trade exports, but the appreciation of the RMB exchange rate will hinder China's processing trade exports. At present, raising the minimum wage level of the export processing enterprises and stabilizing the RMB exchange rate are beneficial for China's processing trade exports.

  • Exchange rate forecasting based on a new kind of nonlinear combination method

With the development of global economy, exchange rate forecast plays a great role in gaining profits for companies. This paper works over that significant subject based on a new kind of nonlinear combination method, which is composed of linear exponential smoothing model, simple moving average method and Elman network. The forecasted values through the first two methods are taken as the inputs of Elman network, which are shown as medium and long-term effect, what's more, some recent periods of exchange rates are chosen as the inputs too, which are shown as short-term effect, thus different influences are considered comprehensively. Otherwise, the actual exchange rates in recent specific time periods are taken as the outputs. According to the historical samples, Elman network is trained in supervised manner for the future forecast. In this way, the different singular methods are combined together well and that new kind of nonlinear method shows the high forecasting accuracy.

  • Model Studies of the Impact of Interest Rates on the Russian Economy in 2018

The article examines the sensitivity of the Russian economy to changes in the base rate of the Central Bank of Russia. A brief description of the interindustry model MEMMAS is given, which was a tool of the study. MEMMAS combines the concept of behavioral multi-agent simulation and the methodology of interindustry input-output balance. The base rate levels were determined, which ensure positive growth rates of GDP and real disposable income of the population in 2018.

  • An Empirical Research of China's Foreign Exchange Risk Management

This article applies GARCH model to Chinese commercial banks exchange rate risk model-based, through empirical analysis of the USD/CNY exchange rate day volatility VaR value show that: (1) Residual items obey the distribution not suitable for distribution of China's foreign exchange market exchange rate yield sequence. Residual items obey GED distribution can be better characterize the distribution of China's foreign exchange market exchange rate yields sequences; (2) The difference of the conclusions of TARCH (1,1)-G model and the EGARCH (1,1)-G model shows that whether there is leverage effect in China foreign exchange market rate yield sequence is not clear.

  • Modeling Volatility of Exchange Rate of Chinese Yuan against US Dollar Based on GARCH Models

This study aims to model the characteristics of volatility of the exchange rate of the Chinese Yuan, based on the daily data of CNY and CNH over the period from August 23, 2010 to September 10, 2013, in the backdrop of RMB internationalization. By introducing both symmetric and asymmetric models of the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic (GARCH) family, we use the daily data to estimate the parameters of each model. Finally, the paper assesses these two models by concluding that these two models can capture most characteristics of the exchange rate volatility and both are adequate to model the exchange rate volatility series.
