Simple closed-form solution for normalized current distribution and scattered field pattern for straight wires

Proceedings of the Eighteenth National Radio Science Conference. NRSC'2001 (IEEE Cat. No.01EX462), 2001

A simple expression has been developed for the normalized current distribution and hence the scattered field pattern for a straight wire subject to an electromagnetic wave incident at arbitrary angle. Although the expression is approximate, the obtained current distribution and subsequent field pattern are generally in good agreement with results obtained by the sophisticated moment method.


Operating on chaotic fluctuations of klystron oscillators by external force

An experimental study is presented of the complex dynamics of a multi-cavity klystron self-oscillator with delay feedback under external periodic influence. It is shown that the addition of an external harmonic signal into the multi-cavity klystron self-sustained oscillator with delay feedback influences essentially on the system dynamics and helps to operate on the oscillation characteristics.

A new result shows the distinct role played by unstable poles of the compensator and nonminimum Phase zeros of the plant. This characterization that is lost when the closed loop feedback properties are expressed solely in terms of the loop transfer function. It is shown that if an unstable compensator is used then constraining the size of the plant input may result in peaks of the sensitivity function.

  • On Sampled-Data Observer Design for Nonlinear Systems

    Sampled-data observer is an important issue of control theory while most implemented control systems are based on computer control. This paper studies sampled-data observer design for nonlinear systems. Because of the difficulties to get the exact discrete-time model of the nonlinear plant the design is based on the approximate discrete-time model. The continuous-time model of the plant is discretized by Euler's method and the observer feedback item is designed in discrete-time. Then the observer is constructed of the feedback item and a more precise approximation. Theory analysis gives the conditions under which the observer will work well for the unknown exact discrete-time model. The theory is illustrated by simulation results.

  • A New Method for the Binocular Reconstruction of 3D Circle

    Analyzing merits and demerits of the classic methods for the reconstruction of 3D circle and based the method for monocular reconstruction of 3D circle whose radius is known, we study the uniqueness proof and the matching principle for binocular reconstruction of 3D circle, further, present a new method for the binocular reconstruction of 3D circle whose radius is unknown. Our method is deduced fully based on the principle of imaging geometry and every step in the method is according to imaging geometry, thereby, it avoids the wrong solution which might happen in the redundant equation error method of the classic methods, and enhances the precision of the reconstruction. Experimental results indicate that the method can not bring any wrong solution which might happen in the classic methods, and is suitable for the reconstruction in the variable special instances and has high precision of the reconstruction

  • A series of microwave synthesizers

    A series of microwave synthesizers intended for use in different types of electronic equipment is designed. The series of extra-small, broadband, frequency synthesizers is intended to operate in the temperature range -40 to +60/spl deg/C with relative frequency instability of /spl plusmn/2.5/spl times/10/sup 6/. The structurally designed synthesizers are executed in universal two-level bodies with dimensions 100/spl times/70/spl times/25 mm and are functionally-complete devices.

  • PWM inverter for parallel operation as high quality AC source in telecommunication

    This paper presents power conversion in an inverter without a 50 Hz transformer, delivering high quality line-type AC power drawn from a 48/60 V DC source. Two modes of operation of such inverters are known: single and double modulation. Advantages and disadvantages of both modes are presented and compared. Basing on this comparison an inverter has been developed which has distortion free AC voltage output, relatively small volume and weight and high efficiency. It uses IGBTs and MOSFETs controlled by an optimised PWM strategy. This inverter can synchronise with the mains and can be parallel connected to increase output power and system redundancy. By the use of a static bypass unit, a further increase in redundancy may be achieved. An example of application in a telecommunication power supply is also presented.<<ETX>>
