The images from most medical imaging equipments such as CT, MRI must be along some fixed direction, but it can't satisfy the clinical inspection from arbitrary directions and angles. In view of this problem, the method of any angle extraction of virtual slice on 3D CT image is proposed in this paper. VC++6.0 with VTK are adopted to reconstruct the 3D images using the 2D CT image sequence in DICOM format. The normal vector and interior point are calculated to form the virtual clipping plane, which in turn is used to incise the 3D object. And the information of virtual slice is obtained, in the mean while the virtual slice images are displayed on the screen. By simple interactive operations like using mouse, the image scaling, translation and rotation can be realized in real time. Therefore, the method presented in this paper is an effective complement to present medical imaging equipments.

We begin our discussion on common image formats and necessary information for the image recovery. We then define several measures on image contents to facilitate the image recovery. Using these measures, an effective recovery algorithm is proposed. Experimental results show that the algorithm can successfully recover images of different formats, even multi-frame images from broken image streams in most cases.
With the advances of DICOM standard, DICOM conformance test becomes more and more important. In real Radiology system integration test, because of the complexity and flexibility of the DICOM standard, the test cases are very complex and in most test situation the test case is not abundant. Sometimes some integration problems can not be found or be resolved only because the test case is not enough. Based on a detailed analysis of DICOM standard, this paper brings forward a DICOM validation sets method to prepare DICOM test case for system integration in radiology before test. To broaden the validation sets' accessibility, the extensible markup language (XML) is used to encode the validation sets. Two kinds of validation sets: flow validation sets and data validation sets are presented. For clearness, one use case: the DICOM validation system is firstly introduced.

In this article, the monitor's luminance response curve was used for calibration, so that the monitor could offer full compliance with the grayscale standard display function (GSDF) defined in digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) Part 14. Unlike high- end medical monitor, the calibration method presented, which used DICOM GSDF and just noticeable differences (JND) as basis, was not achieved by adjusting the lookup table (LUT) of the display adapter installed in computer but the one in the monitor itself. Results indicated that the calibration method of the monitor was adapter/computer independent and its performance could be improved.
Verilog-A Hardware Description Language (VHDL) is a behavioral description language for analog systems. It is derived from the IEEE 1364 Verilog HDL specification and it is intended to let designers of analog and integrated circuits to create and use modules described mathematically in terms of its terminals and external parameters applied to the module. This paper shows the simplicity and versatility technique of modeling active microwave devices using Verilog-A language. We have made several comparisons under two different commercial simulators: Agilent ADS and GENESYS.
Mobile technology and Applications are growing rapidly which provide another service way. In the area of Engineering in Medicine and Biology is a positively affected by new technology and availability. We proposed a prototype of medical image (DICOM ) retrieval Application with Quick Response Code (QR-Code)  authentication based on Android operating system, which can help personal clinics and clinicians in the remote area develop their own mobile retrieval system by the lower cost way.
With the further application of medical images data in medical field, in order to enrich and enhance the useful information in different medical images, image data fast reading and processing is increasingly becoming a promising research. In this work, we proposed a fast reading and processing method for batch human CT image data. We can use some conventional image processing algorithm for fast processing of CT image. Experiment results shows proposed methods is robust, easy to implement and uses simple conventional image processing algorithm implementation. This novel medical images data batch processing methods can assist doctors in making more accurate diagnoses and treating patients in a more convenient way.
Lung cancer has become the foremost cause of high mortality rate in the western world. Subsequently, many image databases are being developed to enhance the investigation of nodules detection techniques in the early stages of lung cancer. Notably, Lung Image Database Consortium (LIDC) is widely recognized as one of the truthful databases but the efficient assessment of nodules on LIDC based Computed Tomography (CT) slices remains challenging. A novel, simple to use and efficient computer based application is proposed for the visualization, marking and segmentation of nodules on lung CT images. Greyscale thresholding and morphological operation (erosion) are applied to achieve adequate nodules segmentation on CT images. Furthermore, an extension enabling 3D visualization is also introduced. This application provides a solution to the challenges related to the segmentation and analysis of nodules in the CT images.
The Pacific Island Health Care Project cares for 250-500 patients from the US- associated Pacific Islands. Unique to the Pacific Basin is a high incidence of acute rheumatic fever, a condition that not uncommonly results in valvular heart disease. Identification of patients with severe valvular heart disease may qualify them for care in the military medical system under this project. Echocardiography has become an essential diagnostic tool for the cardiologist in identifying heart valve problems. Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) has established a digital echocardiography network to serve the Great Plains Region. Currently, echocardiograms are digitized at remote sites, transferred to BAMC for evaluation and stored in DICOM standard format on optical disk. The digital network system provides improved care for patients, reduces patient transport costs, permits local follow-up and reduces health care costs. New digital technologies currently under evaluation at our institution will provide smaller, less costly, portable digital imaging systems and make digital echocardiography imaging networks feasible for remote health care facilities. Combining this technology with the new era of digital imaging will allow portable echoes to be used as an extension of the stethoscope. Evaluating heart function and valvular disease in a local health facility will decrease the need for transportation of the patient to a larger facility for diagnosis or follow-up evaluation.
