Augmented Reality in Operating Rooms
The steadily increasing data acquisition and storage requirements of the oceanographic community are continuously pushing the ability of current technologies to meet its needs. Also, the ocean environment places special demands on instruments, such as low power consumption, low temperatures, and compact packaging. This paper describes a data acquisition and storage system based on a unique high capacity (190 Megabyte) digital tape recorder and low power, high performance electronics, that has been specifically designed to meet the demands of the ocean environment without sacrificing capability or capacity.
This paper presents a study of packet scheduling enhancements for VoIP service over high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) in WCDMA. Taking VoIP traffic characteristics into account in Node B packet scheduling algorithm is a key element in achieving good performance and high VoIP capacity. The novelty of this study consists of dynamic transmission resource allocation method for VoIP service. Dynamic resource allocation takes the estimated channel conditions and the transmission requirements of a user into account to increase the efficiency of resource utilization. Simulation results produced with a dynamic system simulator indicate 20 % VoIP capacity gain achieved with the proposed enhancement when compared to the conventional even share resource allocation.

These include automatic page formatting with headings, footings, and page numbering, as well as text-modifying actions. A significant feature is the ease with which documents can be converted to machine-readable form at a typewriter terminal for further computer processing. Programming techniques used allow unrelated background programs to run concurrently with ATS/360, obviating the need for a dedicated computing system.
This paper describes a low-cost memory expansion system for the Advantest T33XX logic tester series. Using this system, the T33XX tester has the same capability as the T6672 tester. This system allows the T33XX to be used for ASIC wafer testing until 2010.
Streaming high quality audio/video (AV) from home media sources to TV sets and audio speakers over a wireless local area network (WLAN) is a challenging problem because of the fluctuating bandwidth caused by interference and fading. Retransmission and data buffering, as common techniques in data transfer over error-prone channels, are not adequate for delay sensitive applications such as high quality audio streaming. Our approach is to adjust the audio data rate dynamically in order to improve the perceptual quality of audio according to wireless channel quality. In this paper we specifically focus on robust audio streaming over short range wireless channels. The major strength of the proposed algorithm is in its ability to match the source and channel coding parameters to the given channel conditions, thus providing better quality and lower latency of audio in home networking.
A high-precision Time-to-Digital-Converter VLSI, TMC-PHX1, was developed for the PHENIX drift chamber. The chip contains 4 channels of TDC with two stages of data buffering and a trigger buffering which are necessary for very high rate experiments. In addition to the fixed data size readout, the chip also supports zero-suppression mode readout. The chip records both rising and falling edge timings, and has a least timing count of 0.83 ns/bit and 1.66 ns/bit respectively. A level 1 buffer has a recording depth of 6.8 /spl mu/sec and a readout FIFO has a depth of 128 words. High precision timing was derived from an asymmetric ring oscillator stabilized with a PLL. The chip runs at 4 times faster clock (37.6 MHz) of the RHIC bunch clock, and was fabricated with 0.5 /spl mu/m CMOS gate-array technology.
Voice and data transmission on a common link is modelled as a Markov renewal process. The performance of an integrated voice/data multiplexer with arbitrary message length distribution and nongated service discipline, particularly mean data message delay, is analyzed using the model.
