2019 IEEE 58th Conference on Decision and Control (CDC)
The CDC is recognized as the premier scientific and engineering conference dedicated to the advancement of the theory and practice of systems and control. The CDC annually brings together an international community of researchers and practitioners in the field of automatic control to discuss new research results, perspectives on future developments, and innovative applications relevant to decision making, systems and control, and related areas.The 58th CDC will feature contributed and invited papers, as well as workshops and may include tutorial sessions.The IEEE CDC is hosted by the IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) in cooperation with the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the Japanese Society for Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE), and the European Union Control Association (EUCA).

This paper gives an overview of data acquisition, data logging and supervisory control system of a plant consisting of multiple boilers. Data acquisition, data logging and supervisory control are the basic building blocks of plant automation. This paper takes a case study of plant consisting of multiple boilers where multiple process variables of the boilers need to be acquired from the field and monitored. The data of the process variables needs to be logged in a database for further analysis and supervisory control. A LabVIEW based data logging and supervisory control program simulates the process and the generated data are logged in to the database with proper indication about the status of the process variable.

However, there is a strong case for creating condition monitoring equipment and the associated infrastructure to allow multiple modes of operation, including real-time monitoring, real-time data logging and remote condition monitoring. Smart Component Technologies Ltd. has developed a multi-faceted ecosystem to allow condition monitoring devices to operate in multiple modes of operation without the need for modification or reconfiguration. In this paper, the requirements for these working modes are discussed in detail and the state-of-the-art wireless technology, cloud based services and smart portable devices are utilised to build such a system. On this basis, an implementation for measuring the clamping force is presented with the capability for long-term monitoring with a low sample rate, live data view during installation, and short bursts of data logging with a high sample rate.

Therefore, this project was developed to monitor and display heartbeat sound using wireless digital stethoscope. The condenser microphone is used as a sensor to capture the low sensitivity of heart sound signal. ZigBee Pro Series 1 wireless module is used to send the heart beat signal wirelessly in 100 meters range. Microcontroller Arduino Nano and Arduino Mega were used as a platform to process the signal and sent the result to the computer. Graphical User Interface (GUI) was developed using MATLAB software to monitor real time electrocardiogram (ECG) waveform and for data logging purpose. The result shows that this device able to transmit and receive ECG waveform wirelessly. The ECG signal can be recorded through data logging application for further analysis by the medical personnel.

This paper presents an overview of data acquisition, data logging and supervisory control of different parameters for green house application. In this work a Green House system is considered, where data from various parameters are needed to be acquired, logged in a database for further analysis and supervisory control. This paper acquires data of surrounding temperatures of the Green House and pH value of water in Green House and controls the parameters when an alarming situation occurs.
This paper presents a dedicated measurement system that allows data logging and analysis during experimental studies in a specialized high-voltage installation, powered by industrial grade voltage. The main aspects considered and discussed for the developed measurement system includes: means of galvanic insulation; required resolution and speed; measurement techniques. The data logging and management system (DLAM) of the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) running on the on-board PC/104 module uses the synchronization and communication mechanism by using multi-threading to implement the function of the collection of data from different devices through multi-serial-port card for sonar, compass, gyro and the USB port for accelerometer, as well as the function of enveloping and transmitting the data to the on-board Industrial PC (IPC) via Ethernet and the function of managing and recording the data locally. Circular buffer management class designed by ourselves and the sequence table are used to manage the data in the memory. By using the circular buffer, we can be free from those trivia like allocating and releasing the resources of memory all the time. The software reliability is analysed and evaluated as well. White-box testing method is employed to test the system, and Musa execution time model is used to estimate the reliability. The result of the estimation shows that the system achieves the expected requirement.
This paper presents the development of a low-cost system capable of measuring data of both voltage and temperature. The data collected is stored in a SD card in tabular form which allows their processing in a typical computer software like Microsoft Excel or Matlab. A real-time clock module was used to include a time stand for the measurements. System was validated by comparing system proposed results with previous studies developed by authors. Results demonstrate a maximum error of 3%.
This project aimed to build a prototype that enhances the capabilities of a solar panel by using a solar tracker and data logger. The solar panel was theoretically enhanced by positioning it perpendicular to the sun's rays. This was accomplished by building a mounting for the solar panel that can be controlled by servo motors. Matlab programming was used to gather the data from the sensors and perform the appropriate motor action. The collected data will be presented to confirm the solar tracking function. It has shown than a solar panel with solar tracker system managed to harvest higher amount of voltages.
