Spontaneous light emission of wheat seedlings in leachate solutions

This report demonstrates that a single CdS film of 2.4 /spl mu/m can accomplish the same function as many layers of a DBR in the optical filter application of fluorescence detection.

    This paper presents novel approaches for higher-resolution, higher output gain, better-linearity, and less-power-consumption micro-stimulator array. To achieve higher output gain for more ideal stimulus current without extra cascode stage, a gain-boosting design is adopted. To achieve higher-resolution and better linearity, a continuous pulse-width modulation-based conversion architecture has been proposed. To overcome extra power consumption of the baseband control logic, the energy recovery scheme is also applied. A monolithic circuitry of this efficient stimulator array has been realized by using TSMC 0.18-_μ_m 1P6M standard CMOS technology and the experimental results show improvement over the prior approaches.

  • Patch antenna with T-shaped probe feed for broadband applications

    We suggest in this work a new type of patch antenna feeding, namely, T-shaped probe. In comparison to the known L-shaped probe, the T-shaped one permits to increase the coupling between the feeding line and the radiator. Two patch antennas configurations are presented which consist of a rectangular radiator proximity coupled to a T-shaped probe. In the first configuration, the input return loss bandwidth is increased significantly and also with a size reduction in comparison to the patch antenna with L-probe. In the second configuration, the antenna is combined with parasitic loops and this allows one to increase further the bandwidth and improve the impedance matching within the entire operating bandwidth.

  • Large scale AAO nano-fiber Substrate for SERS application

    Large area of anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) nano-fiber substrates were fabricated by an extended wet etching process. The resultant gold-coated nano- fibers exhibit strong SERS signals that are far more superior to the metal film on nano-particles (MFON) substrates. This is by far the largest enhancement achieved in the class of period array substrate.
