    This study investigates the role of information technology in business process reengineering (BPR) implementation. To increase the prospects of successful BPR implementation, the role of information technology in BPR should be thoroughly investigated to find the logical relationships between information technology and BPR. This study used a survey methodology to gather information from 72 BPR programs. The results show that different information technologies, such as those examined in this study, electronic data interchange (EDI) and Internet, provide different capabilities and can be useful in different ways and for different purposes. Lack of attention to these relationships may be due to the unacceptable high implementation failure rate in the previous BPR efforts.

In this paper we will show the energy saving potential and the differences of eco routes of ICEV, BEV and PHEV. We will show how it is possible to generate the necessary data like the travel time and the route energy consumption to calculate eco or time efficient routes. We will also show that eco-routing of the different drive trains is possible with very fast genetic algorithms like the ant colony optimization algorithm.

  • A Process-Oriented Modelling Technique

    This paper discusses the problem of process modelling and aims to introduce a process-oriented technique called the activity table to find a better solution for the problem mentioned. This is a simple and effective technique, which is based on developing the activity table. Business process modelling is done by identifying the business processes and is continued by defining work processes and activities of each chosen business process. This technique is independent on the analyst and his/her experience. It requires that each identified activity must be connected to its resource and its successor activity and in this manner contribute a great deal in developing a process model, which represents a true reflection to actual business process.   • The Impact of Mobile Technology on Business Processes Results from 5 Case Studies

    Implementation of mobile-integrated business processes within corporate IT- systems is a major and still increasing issue. Although the usage of mobile technologies for IT management and improvement of business processes is far behind expectations, still little research has been done in analyzing critical success factors for mobile technology acceptance and usage when replacing a former paper-based process within the IT-service domain. In this contribution we identify major business metrics which are influenced by mobile tool integration into mobile business processes. Therefore a mobile workforce solution for IT-service technicians has been implemented and usability tested. The deployment of the mobile workforce solution has been investigated in two industrial case studies in two different companies. Additionally mobile tool deployment of different systems in three technical customer service companies has been investigated through exploratory case study research. The results show that (a) same archetypical business process metrics are affected after mobile tool deployment and (b) user involvement in business process reengineering and tool development fosters tool acceptance and usage.

  • The Whole Process Cost Management of construction project based on Business Process Reengineering

    Cost management has become one of the critical problems in construction management, for China will become one of the biggest construction markets with a huge number of investments these years, while the actuality of cost management is merely efficient. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to study on a new cost management paradigm. To begin with, drawbacks of current cost management in construction project are analyzed. The current cost management in practical construction management is mostly limited to quantity measurement and valuation, and is implemented by different entities in different phrases separately, which goes against a good transmission and integration of the cost information, and that probably leads to a poor cost control effect. Then, the theoretical mechanism of Whole Process Cost Management is discussed, and the Business Process Reengineering Theory is studied following. The Business Process Reengineering is adopted as the theoretical tool to achieve the efficient cost management during the whole process. Based on these, the business process is reengineered for the Whole Process Cost Management. Finally, the support system for it is established to provide organization, information and technology support for the seek of minimizing the total cost of construction projects.
