  • LED lighting development for intelligent clothing

    LED lighting is applied to clothing. It allows a flexible method to provide illumination of lighting. A family of converter topologies is proposed to give this simply method of power conversion. Analysis for the circuits in terms of output power, efficiency and general operation are provided. Two types of LED lighting clothing are developed. One is using super-bright LED embedded on the cloth. This gives active lighting instead of passive lighting. Another one is using optical fibre with grating to form lighting pattern.

    According to pattern design of western-style clothes, the related body data of 3D human scanner acquisition is adpoted to establish BP neural network model for intelligent design of clothin gdesign. The selection, input variable and data preprocessing of sample data in the model are regulated, and the number of hidden layer neurons in the model is determined through experiments. By training and simulation prediction it is found, according to analysis on sample garment trial and try on, BP neural network based intelligent western- style clothes design scheme is feasible and effective.

The tremor parameters resulted after FFT analysis (amplitudes and frequencies) reveals the presence of essential tremor which is difficult to be identified by visual investigation.

  • Humanized Clothing Recommendation System Based on Fuzzy Set Theory

    On the basis of fuzzy sets theory, this thesis discusses a personalized intelligent clothing recommendation system using MAS. Using fuzzy theories could solve the matching problems of suppliers and buyers in clothing recommendation. The fuzzy problems are numerically simulated by the constraints of logical variables such as believability and subject functions to [0, 1]. Then the solutions could be gotten. Finally, it will achieve ordering of recommended clothing and carry out intelligent business. This fuzzy evaluation model and Agent utility analysis designed in this system intensifies the intelligence of the whole system.

  • "Neon" digipainting: modeling electronic arts and ubiquitous computing in a virtual environment

    In this paper we introduce a system prototype in which traditional human- computer interface is hidden inside electronic art pieces in the home environment. In this prototype an electronic art piece acts as a communication device as well as an artistic artefact. The proposed environment consists of: (1) a piece ' of electronic art which is a so called digipainting "Neon" and (2) mobile artefacts such as intelligent clothing, intelligent badges, i-buttons, mobile phones, PDAs and toys. We also introduce how the whole system is modelled first in a virtual environment. The virtual environment system will also handle different kind of sensors in real-time.

  • Utilization of electro-conductive blended Ag/PA textile rayon yarns as data and power wires in an intelligent textile structures

    Nowadays, health application has growing market potential. In this paper, an investigation of electro-conductive, parameters of blended silver coated polyamide yarn were measured. We focused on the several objectives important in electro-conductive yarns design and application into intelligent clothing. In detail, the effect of numbers of silver filaments, draft and twists, the effect of external heating source on electrical and temperature parameters were tested. Likewise, the possibilities of electro-conductive yarn as data bus were tested too.

  • Associate Design of Fashion Sketch and Pattern

    Currently, the work of pattern making and fashion sketch drawing is done by designers and pattern makers respectively. The development of satisfactory garment products requires constant communication between designers and pattern makers. This process is very time-consuming. In this research, we proposed a body-dimension-based associate design method to integrate fashion sketch drawing and pattern making. Firstly, we accorded dimensions to fashion sketches so that fashion sketches and their corresponding patterns can be associated together by human body dimensions. Then, in the height and width directions, we constructed mathematical models considering fashion sketches, their corresponding patterns and human body dimensions. Finally, a software application based on our proposed method was developed to generate jean fashion sketches and their corresponding patterns, rapidly and automatically. The associate design of fashion sketches and garment patterns in this research demonstrates the integration of artistic design and engineering design. This novel research idea can be further applied in other design domains.
