  • Delay metric for networked C2 information system architecture

    This article put forward a delay metric using social network analysis to asses the response time from Networked C2 information system architecture level. Firstly, an OPDAR model of networked C2 information architecture was proposed. Secondly, three information flows, namely intelligence information flow, cooperation information flow and C2 information flow, were defined and analyzed. Their mathematical representations and parameters were given as well. After that, the methods for the delay of the three information flows were given to assess the delay of networked C2 information architecture. Finally, we proved the delay metric is worked well by assessing to two kinds of area joint air defense system architecture.

The fifth is an Independent Standalone Subsystems (ISS) pattern. The details of each pattern are explained together with the scenarios where they can be used. Some examples for each scenario are also highlighted. Some of our practical experiences in the industry are also highlighted.

The second is a combination with modifications (CoMo) whereby considerable modifications are made to the system from a software and hardware perspective. The third is a central controller pattern (CC) whereby each subsystem exports its key states to a central controller which in turn manages the subsystems and the overall product use cases. The fourth is a Redesign and Re-architect pattern (RDRA), which will re-use certain key components from the independent subsystems but otherwise it is basically a back-to-drawing-board approach. The fifth is an Independent Standalone Subsystems (ISS) pattern whereby the 2 subsystems co-exist without any overlapping use-cases. The details of each pattern are explained together with the scenarios where they can be used. Some examples for each scenario are also highlighted. Some of our practical experiences in the industry are also highlighted. Note:-Mechanical packaging is not considered in this scope.

  • Research on open system architecture for equipment health management based on OSA-CBM

This paper constructs an Open System Architecture for EHM (OSA-EHM). OSA-EHM is an integrated implement system, which integrate OSA-CBM technology and EHM fundamentals. There are two important open interfaces. One is embed between management theory and health management fundamentals. The other is embed between the high -tech and equipment management critical technologies. To make sure of the sequential information flow, effective information integration and sufficient information interaction in the open system architecture, Information structural model of equipment health management system is developed, mainly included structural model of information flow, structural model of information integration and structural model of information interaction.

Research has shown this framework is helpful for the data location and search and it promotes data utilization ratio in scientific research, production and living.

  • A Low-Cost and High-Performance Embedded System Architecture and an Evaluation Methodology

    A reduced interface and high performance embedded system architecture (MSBUS) is proposed in this paper. The control bus is low-cost and low-power, whereas the data bus is high-bandwidth and high-speed especially. In addition, a Universal Verification Methodology (UVM)-based performance evaluation methodology is proposed to estimate the hardware structures. In order to evaluate the bus performance, AHB, AXI and MSBUS DMA are implemented as a case study. The experimental results show that MSBUS DMA uses the least hardware resources, reduces energy consumption to a half of AHB and AXI in the block transfer mode, and achieves 3.3 times and 1.6 times valid bandwidth of AHB and AXI respectively. Moreover, the proposed evaluation methodology is effectively used with sufficient accuracy.

  • System architecture in the dynamic environment based on commonality and variability business processes

    A dynamic environment can radically change the improvement of software for information system development. The change related to the time, cost, effort and quality. This situation forces the system to improve its reusability in terms of commonality and variability business processes. In order to response to it, we develop mechanism for system architecture that based on technical and business process alignment approach. We proposed system architecture that characterizes by business process commonality and variability. The proposed system architecture consists of busines process layer, user interface layer, application layer, integration layer, legacy business process layer and data layer. Variant of business processes and tasks can be embedded to one another. Beside that, it can support substitution and replacement among part of business processes and tasks that make possible for sharing parts among entitites. The entitiy can choose suitable parts of common and specific business processes in dynamic environment. Hence, the system architecture can minimize time, cost, effort and improve software quality for information system.

  • Design and implementation of a hierarchical control system architecture for a modular pulsed power supply system

    High power electronics converters, recently, have been composed of modular building blocks, Power Electronics Building Blocks (PEBB), to gain advantage for modularity, scalability, power density, and reliability. In addition to their hardware configuration, the control system of those converters should also be modular for scalability. In this paper, a hierarchical control system architecture together with both communication and protection means is proposed for a modular Pulsed Power Supply (PPS) for the implementation of Electromagnetic Launcher (EML) system. An isolated interface between high voltage control system elements on each PPS module and main control system is recommended and implemented for the EML system. The proposed control system architecture is formed via modular PXI based control hardware of National Instruments. The proposed hierarchical control system architecture is an industry application of the control system architecture suggested in IEEE Standard (Std 1676-2010) to the PEBB based modular PPS with some application specific contributions of authors to the subject.

  • Design and implementation of a scalable system architecture for embedded multimedia terminal

    Currently the extensive application of embedded multimedia processing calls for requirement of hardware acceleration and multi-function expansion, it firmly requires an scalable and efficient design of system architecture for embedded multimedia processing terminal. At first, system architecture with distinct structures and reasonable modules is designed, a simplified multimedia framework is designed for embedded application, which includes a scheduler and a multimedia processing engine based on FFMPEG. The design of engine interfaces focuses on compatibility and scalability to deal with a variety of applied requirements. Then, embedded multimedia processing software is implemented based on the system architecture design. A scheduling program which schedules modules is implemented. A media player engine with scalable software interfaces is developed. Eventually, on Real6410 platform, an embedded multimedia system is built, which makes use of LINUX Framebuffer device driver interface to display video and ALSA library to play audio for testing the system. The actual operation result proves that system architecture design simplifies the multimedia processing and supports multiple media formats as well as hardware acceleration. The scalability and efficiency make it suitable for embedded application.

  • The design and application of multi-sensor data fusion in open system architecture of avionics

    To meet the pressing needs of developments in avionics and military capability, in this paper, an application instance of fundamental multi-radars data fusion based on Kalman filtering to open system architecture platform of avionics is proposed and carried out. The multi-radar data fusion process scheme is designed in four core modules: coordinate conversion module, data compressing module, the nearest neighbor algorithm module and Kalman filtering algorithm module. Based on the open system architecture and relevant hierarchical design, the application platform of data fusion system is built up. A friendly radar stimulation man-machine interface is designed to vividly show the whole radar detection process and achieve the data detection targets. Finally, the data fusion process is successfully applied in open system architecture and efficiently realizes the real-time tasks. Detailed data fusion results are shown in several broken line graphs.
