Distribution of Entangled Photon Pairs Over Few Mode Fibers

  • Silicon Photonics for Quantum Communication

    Silicon quantum photonics, capable to integrate large numbers of optical components with CMOS-compatible fabrication technology and reliable control of quantum states, is expected to play a critical role in future quantum communication. In this paper, we consider to apply the symmetrization method to mixed-state signals and give a necessary condition of mixed-state signals to apply the method. Then, we present examples of mixed- state signals to which the symmetrization method can be applied.

To ensure that power information data cannot be eavesdropped or deciphered during transmission, a strict encryption method is required. As computer computing capabilities continue to increase, traditional encryption algorithms face the challenge of reduced security. Quantum communication technology is a kind of encryption method relatively safe in principle. It can be applied to data transmission in power information systems, greatly improving the security of the system. However, at present, there is a problem that the signal weakens in the long-distance transmission process of the quantum, so that the long-distance quantum communication is hindered. For the above problems, a method suitable for long-distance quantum communication is researched through the analysis of the principle of quantum communication technology.

  • Single-Photon Faithful Transmission Using Error-Rejection Coding in Quantum Communications

    Faithful transmission of quantum information over noisy channel is an essential requisite for quantum communication and distributed quantum computing. Here we experimentally demonstrate a noise-rejecting scheme for single-photon qubits transmission, resorting to neither ancillary photons nor globally entangled resources. Employing the unbalanced polarization interferometer, the polarization qubits are transformed to time-bin degrees of freedom. Meanwhile, the deterministic transmission of quantum states with high fidelity can be achieved. We find that the immunity of time-bin encoded qubits against collective noise paves the way to practical quantum error-correction and rejection in long-distance quantum communication.

  • Telecom Narrow Bandwidth Two-photon Source with High Fidelity Polarization Entanglement

    We demonstrate two-photon sources for long-distance quantum communication. The highest spectral brightness 3.94×105 pairs/(s MHz mW), the narrowest linewidth in telecom of 1.06 MHz and entanglement fidelity of 91.8% are shown.

  • Limits of Adaptive Quantum Processing

    Adaptive Quantum Information Processing, patent number US9838141 B2, can minimize the error rate of a communication protocol by calculating the quantum representation that corresponds to maximum capacity. We prove that for an arbitrary unital channel the most the error rate can be reduced by is half its initial value in QKD, an example of which is gravitational noise in Earth to satellite communication.

  • Error Probability Derivation in a Phonon-Based Quantum Channel

    Quantum communications are gaining more and more interest in the research community thanks to the recent advancements in nanotechnology. Indeed, quantum phenomena represent a natural direction for developing nanotechnology. The exploitation of quantum nature of information offers new potential solutions in the field of computing and networking, and extends the communication potentiality to levels that cannot be imagined in classical communication systems. Quantum communications can be realized in different ways. In this paper, we focus on the exploitation of quantum particles and quantum channels, in order to realize a data transmission system by means of phonons. First, we introduce the channel model of a phonon-based quantum system, and then derive the analysis of the error probability associated to such quantum channel. The application scenario is a biological environment, where phonons are exploited as information carriers. We have dealt a numerical evaluation in order to assess the performance of the quantum communication system. In particular, we have derived numerical results in terms of the error probability and the activity time, which represent how effective are phonons for communication purpose. We observe the frequency dependence of both error probability and activity time, thus allowing to tune the frequency for performance optimization.
