  • Insights into Social Network Theory and Entrepreneurship

Social network theory has long been explored not only as an important resource base to entrepreneurship but also as an underlying force on the development of entrepreneur behavior. Besides the general introduction of social network theory, this paper specifically chose several new angles to look closely into the interaction relationship of social network and entrepreneurship. The insights this paper presents are dynamics of social network followed by venture's social network and its impact on entrepreneurial intentions, opportunity identification, entrepreneurial orientation, new venture's innovative capability. These insights analyses the important issues we encounter in the entrepreneurship practice and entrepreneurship academic research development as well.

  • Knowledge Recommendation Based on Social Network Theory

In knowledge management systems (KMS), the overabundance of information has forced users to spend more time searching for information that they need. If KMS can discover users' interests and initiatively recommend knowledge which users are interested in, it will greatly improve users' satisfaction. In this paper, based on social network theory, we propose a new method for establishing a knowledge network by analyzing users' retrieval records. With the network, we introduce an algorithm which is based on centralization analysis and cohesive subgroup analysis in social network theory to meet the requirements of recommendation. The success in a practical project demonstrates the effectiveness of the method.

  • Shopping basket analysis based on the social network theory

This paper applies the social network theory to analyze the FOODMART sales dataset which is from a large supermarket company in the United States. We first measure the node degree distribution, the average path length and the clustering coefficient. The results show that the basket network accords with the characteristics of a small world network, but its topology is different from a number of actual large social networks. Its point degree distribution follows a Poisson distribution rather than a power-law distribution. We then try to find the cliques in the network and conclude that products which have same attributes connect more closely each other than the products which have different attributes. Furthermore, we also find that family members with similar age structure buy the similar products.

  • Based on Social Network Theory Security Identity Authentication Protocol Research on MANET

In the backdrop of the social network theory, Mobile Ad Hoc Network(MANET) security risks, and technical problems faced by is particularly important. Wireless self-organizing network with the traditional network in there are many different places, but they all have the same purpose of solving the problem of information security and identity authentication etc. This paper mainly studies the MANET security authentication protocol, because each other between the sensor and the gateway node provide relevant certification is always a difficult problem to the field, and the security is not guaranteed under offline password guessing attacks, in order to overcome these gaps, this paper puts forward the improvement scheme, and the solutions are compared with those of the traditional scheme of Das, summed up the improvement plan to improve the effectiveness and safety of the original agreement.

  • A Research on Effect of Response to Internet Financing Reputation Evaluation on Achievement - From the Perspective of Social Network Theory

With the rapid development of Internet technologies and business models, the new Internet financial model represented by crowdfunding has become more and more popular among entrepreneurs and small and medium investors, serving as an important financing source for entrepreneurship and innovation. Accordingly, all major Internet entrepreneurial financing platforms have launched a standardized reputation evaluation system to facilitate investors to evaluate the quality of entrepreneurship program and service. Potential investors can also make investment choices based on the above-mentioned evaluation, which, together with the response to the evaluation, forms a reputation mechanism specific to Internet finance. Different from the traditional customer evaluation and evaluation feedback model, the aforesaid rating and entrepreneurs' responses are open and can transform the word of mouth into the entrepreneurs' reputation which will influence potential investors. Therefore, they have great significance and special research value. In spite of fairly complete research on evaluation of Internet financial investors, the research on entrepreneurs' response to the above-mentioned evaluation, especially that from the perspective of social network theory, is still in its infancy, lacking empirical verification and theoretical analysis. This paper, based on the data of 5893 science and technology programs collected from crowdfunding websites, specifies the empirical verification on effects and boundaries of different response behaviors and proposes corresponding management suggestions by effective combination and development of empirical research and social network theory.

  • Promoting Strategy of Chinese Green Building Industry: An Evolutionary Analysis Based on the Social Network Theory

Developing green building industry (GBI) is an effective way to promote sustainable economic development, realize energy savings, and reduce emissions. In this paper, an evolutionary game model is developed to examine the interactions between technology, knowledge transfer, and enterprises' behaviors in innovation networks. Through analysis of the evolutionary trend of the game, the cost of cooperative innovation is found to be an important factor that determines the evolutionary stable state or strategy (ESS). The government grant and financial support are deemed critical to promote the development of green building products (GBP). The government supervision, government procurement, and R&D; are important for the GBI.

  • Determining the Number of Clusters in Co-authorship Networks Using Social Network Theory

Spectral clustering is a modern data clustering methodology with many notable advantages. However, this method has a weakness in that it requires researchers to specify a priori the number of clusters. In most cases, it is a challenge to know the number of clusters accurately. Here, we propose a novel way to solve this problem by involving the concept of group leaders and members from social network theory. From the perspective of social networks, groups are organized by leaders and this can provide a hint to finding the number of clusters in social networks by identifying group leaders. However, due to the fact that a group can have more than one leader, we also propose an algorithm to combine leaders from the same group. The number of leaders after the combination is expected to be the number of clusters in a network. We validate this proposed approach by using spectral clustering to cluster data comprising the co-authorship network from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). The experimental results show that our proposed method is effective in determining the number of cluster and can facilitate spectral clustering to achieve better clusters compared with other methods of calculating the number of clusters.

  • Embeddedness, Social Network Theory and Social Capital Theory: Antecedents and Consequence

This paper seeks to question the relation about three core theories in New Economic Sociology by Literature analysis. The basic ideas below are: embeddedness forms the social network, in which the special resources and regulation formed the social capital. Embeddedness is the basic description of the economic phenomenon; Social Network is the abstract of the Embeddedness; Social Capital is the extract and purification of the Social Network. Embeddedness is the core of the Social Network Theory and Social Capital Theory originated from social network theory.

  • Investigating the Coping Mechanism Towards Technochanges: A Perspective of Social Network Theory

For the purpose of better understanding the sociopsychological factors involved in an individual's coping process towards technochanges, this study examines how the social capital derived from two types of social networks - supportive and informational - influences individual adaptation to the new ICT and its related performance. Based on the social network theory and the coping theory, we establish a research model that combines social network variables with psychometric ones. A total of 85 responses are analyzed to test the proposed model and its hypotheses using PLS and UCINET. The results show that the coping effort mechanism of individuals can be explained in terms of social networks. Specifically, supportive network position significantly predicts self-efficacy that explains emotion-focused coping mechanism, while informational network position significantly influences absorptive capacity that accounts for problem-focused coping mechanism. We conclude the paper by discussing theoretical and practical implications for the research findings in terms of social networks and technochanges.

  • Improving the community behaviour of social network theory based mobility model for MANET

Most of the MANET protocols are evaluated by simulation environments. The validation is meaningful when they use realistic mobility models. Once the nodes have been initially distributed, the mobility model dictates the movement of the nodes within the network. If this movement is unrealistic, the simulation results obtained may not correctly reflect the true performance of the protocols. The majority of existing mobility models for ad hoc networks do not provide realistic movement. Most of the mobile nodes are directly or indirectly handled by human beings so mobility model based on social network theory predicts the node movements more realistic. Major challenges of these models are identifying the community and predicting the behavior of each node and each community. Our paper reinforces the model and overcome the challenges by using unified relationship matrix which identifying the community structure more accurately and helps to predict the behaviour of a MANET. Unified relationship matrix helps to represent the relationships of inter and intra type of nodes among the various community groups with in the given terrain. It solves the node duplication among various heterogeneous community groups and identifies the correct community structure.
