  • The Development of Medical Diagnostic System Based on Integration of Traditional and Eastern Medicines

In this article is described approach of producing of medical diagnostic expert system which based on integration of traditional western and eastern medicines. If necessary, to clarify the probable diagnoses, the doctor should receive from the patient additional information about a human personal condition (medical history, lifestyle, some laboratory tests, etc.). In determining the actual disease present, there arises the actual task of choosing the most preferred atomic diagnostic test (ADT) at each step of the diagnostic process. One of the main directions of this work is research of informativity questionnaire for patients, where such as questions with binary answers Yes or No and questions for determination of human innate nature type. To increase diagnostic precision there has been developed a program method of diagnostic criterion (informativeness) using Bayes procedure and module of analysis based on nominal entropies. One variant of the diagnostic test based on self-assessed health status suggests determining a patient's constitution due to which it is possible to specify the diagnosis, avoiding diseases that are not typical for a certain constitutional type. Application of the diagnostic model offered motivates a patient to develop a healthy life, adhere to scientifically grounded system of disease prevention, according to the causes of diseases of the given constitution type.

Single-phase re-substituted (FeCo)2B-type material was prepared from stoichiometric (Fe0.675Co0.3Re0.025)2B by the combination of suction casting and mechanical milling. The two alloys had the same phase constitution of (Fe, Co)2B-type and amorphous phases in heavily milled state. However, the heavily milled alloys had different phase constitution after annealing; the stoichiometric alloy consisted of single (Fe, Co)2B-type phase, while the boron-excess alloy consisted of two-phase mixture of (Fe, Co)2B-type and (Fe, Co)B-type phases. The two heavily milled alloys had similar coercivity of around 1 kOe after full annealing.

Kannada belongs to the Southern branch of the Dravidian family (Burrow and Emeneau, 1984) and is spoken primarily in the state of Karnataka (formerly Mysore), South India. It is the official language of the state and one of the 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. It is one of the six classical languages of India. Kannada has a rich, continuous literary tradition and a fine grammatical tradition. In this paper, we discuss the curious and odd case of the Kannada verb `maaDu', address the problems it poses to Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Translation (MT) systems and offer possible solutions.

  • Indian Judicial System Overview and a Approach for Automatic Roster Preparation and Case Scheduling for Faster Case Solving (Need of: E-Courts)

Judicial System in India is one of the most constructive & effectual systems in the world. Like many other countries the constitution of India also maintained the mainly three independent organs which work in parallel and independently for protecting the rights of its citizen and making law and order system in the country, which are- Judiciary, Legislative and Executive. From the citizen points of view judiciary is the most important organ of the constitution because it acts as a protector to the constitution and citizens against the excesses of legislative and executive organ. Citizens are often having negative experiences in inefficient court due to "Tarikh pe Tarikh" system causing delay in getting them justice. This is happening because large no of cases are filled every day and more than 20% judges posts are lying vacant in India. In my opinion the biggest challenge is "How to best utilize the available judiciary resources-which are mainly the judges and court". If most important matters are given the best available resource, the performance of the judiciary system could be improved. This paper gives a brief idea about Judicial System in India and proposed an algorithm based on complexity and priority of cases so that cases can be solved faster and performance of judicial system can be improved.

  • Constitution Identification of Tongue Image Based on CNN

The physique of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is the quality of our body and the tongue image is a manifestation based on the metabolism of the body. The constitution can be easily and objectively identified by the image of the tongue. In this paper, the classical convolution neural network (CNN) and gray level co-occurrence matrix, minimum enclosing rectangle and edge curve are used to extract the features of human tongue. Then different classifier are used to classify different constitution, and finally by comparing the accuracy and complexity of the two methods, we proposed a method constitution identification of TCM which is based on tongue images. The data set used in the experiment is provided and acquired by the Department of TCM in the hospital of Beijing University of Technology. In this paper, the accuracy of the three types of physique classification of Qi deficiency, damp heat and phlegm dampness is 63%, and the accuracy of traditional machine learning algorithm is respectively 30%, 56% and 66%. It is of great significance to clinical, teaching and scientific research of TCM by making the most of the deep learning network and the auxiliary identification of physique.

  • Modeling Complex Negotiations: The Quill Project

This is a poster in support of our long paper, "Quill: A Framework for Constructing Negotiated Texts, with a Case Study on the US Constitutional Convention of 1787". The paper describes a new approach to the presentation of records relating to formal negotiations and the texts that they create. It describes the architecture of a model, platform, and web-interface (https://www.quillproject.net) that can be used by domain-experts to convert the records typical of formal negotiations in to a model of decision-making (with minimal training). This model has implications for both research and teaching, by allowing for better qualitative and quantitative analysis of negotiations.

  • Building a Foundation to Measure National Well-Being

The Key National Indicators Act of 2008 was passed by the United States Congress with the intent of creating a system of citizen-based statistics, which would function as a tool for informing both policymakers and the American public on the current outlook of our nation with respect to the physical, financial, and social well-being of individuals. This act allocated $77.5 million over a 10-year period to establish a commission that would collect and analyze data. However, over the past decade, the commission has failed to produce tangible results in the form of standardized metrics. Our research intends to carry out the initial goal of the Key National Indicators Act by following the basic principles proposed within it. To do so, we have used the five pillars of the US Constitution (Justice, Tranquility, Defense, Welfare, and Liberty) as broad indicators of how to measure progress. Within each pillar, specific metrics such as Poverty Rate (Welfare) and Recidivism Rate (Justice) were deemed significant through survey results. Data were assembled for each metric and weighted according to survey findings. After normalizing the results, sub-scores were established for each pillar and combined into an overall wellness score, the Promise America Wellness Score (PAWS). An analysis was carried out for data acquired from 1995 up until 2016 in order to understand the growth and decline of the United States over time. To effectively visualize and report these findings, a final product was designed in the form of a website. Through this website, the metrics and trends are made visible and interpretable, and are more easily marketed as a potentially valuable source of data for decision-makers. The website also includes areas for future steps in which well-being in the US would be able to be compared to well-being in other countries.
