  • The implementation of video encryption network card

    This paper describes the implementation of video encryption network card based on FPGA to ensure data secure in the process of Internet transmission. The overall design of the system is introduced. FPGA is used to implement data encryption and control function. Ethernet MAC controller is applied to send or receive data over the network. For software design, it mainly focuses on the network device driver in this paper. At the requirement of large image data and real-time image processing, this design also presents two ways to improve the efficiency of data transfer. On the one hand, an image encryption algorithm based on ZUC stream cipher is adopted, with fewer FPGA resources and faster encryption. On the other hand, a DMA engine is applied to manage data transmission between host memory and FPGA to accomplish high performance data transfer.

    With the increasing aging of the population, the intelligent monitoring of the elderly solitaries has becoming more and more crucial. In this paper, Wi-Fi wireless communication technology and OpenCV technology are combined to design an intelligent monitoring system for the elderly solitaries. The ARM9 processor S3C2416 is used as the main controller which equipped with a Wi-Fi module and a video data acquisition module. Device driver module, serial port driver module and USB camera driver module are used to achieve an appropriate device driver operation while the human body posture detection method is used to perceive falls. Through the experimental test system to achieve the design goal, it is able to verify that this system has a good application prospect and scalability.

  • Design and implementation of automated phototherapy system

    Nowadays more and more people are suffering from autoimmune skin diseases. Clinical studies have shown that the 311 Nm narrow-band UVB light's immune- modulating effect decreases symptoms, which can be a good alternative compared to steroid treatments. The purpose of my work is the design and implementation of an automated phototherapy system. The system is a 2 DOF (Degree of freedom) stand, which has the possibility to cover the entire area of the treatment bed. Movement along 2 axes is accomplished with the help of two stepper motors and two motor drivers. The control unit of the system is a Zybo Zynq -7000 SoC development board, running a Linux-based operating system. This system hosts the image processing algorithm, which is responsible for detecting the areas on the patient's skin requiring special treatment. Having identified the target area's location a path planning algorithm calculates the needed step counts, which are afterwards transmitted to the reprogrammable modules in the Zybo FPGA development board. These modules are finite state machines that generate the impulses needed to drive the stepper motor drivers.

  • OpenCL Runtime for OS-Driven Task Pipelining on Heterogeneous Accelerators

    Task pipelining on accelerators is suitable for streaming applications, while its performance can decrease due to frequent user/OS interactions caused by hardware control via device drivers. Our previous research has proposed PPM, an OS support that efficiently manages multiple accelerators by eliminating the user/OS interactions during the pipelined execution. To allow users to develop and execute pipeline applications using PPM, this paper introduces a customized OpenCL runtime library. When executing an OpenCL application, the runtime library dynamically analyzes OpenCL API calls and creates a data flow graph required for the PPM execution. With the runtime library, users easily execute applications written in common OpenCL pipeline model on PPM.

  • Design of High-Speed Data Transmission System for IC Test

    Based on the embedded Linux system, this paper studies the high-speed data transmission system for the IC test. The AXI4 Burst interface module between DDR and FIFO is designed by using data transmission segmentation method, which can minimize the transmission cycles. The read/write channel of the communication module between ZYNQ and FPGA has both a data/instruction valid signal and an accompanying clock, which can improve stabilization of data transmission. Finally, to design device driver and application for the data transmission peripheral by using memory mapping, which helps users to operate and manage the peripheral and a large number of files for IC test. Experimental results show after many tests, the sending and receiving files are consistent, indicating that the system can transmit data correctly and stably. The data transmission rate of the system can reach 540Mbps.

  • Design and Implementation of Character Device Driver for Customized Kernel of ARM based Platform

    Nowadays, embedded linux is widely used operating system due to its compatibility with variety of systems like super computer, work station, personal computer, system on chip (SoC), server and custom computer. The major reason of using linux is high portability and open source code. Also, it supports different type of architectures like- x86, PowerPC, MIPS, H8, SPARC, or ARM and many more. This paper deals with design, implementation and testing of character device driver for the GPIO pins of ARM Cortex based platform. Device driver is a piece of code written in C language which is responsible for controlling the hardware and part of the kernel. ARM based platform Raspberry Pi is used in this work, supports the Linux OS. Due to missing of dependencies and patches, the option of cross compilation is available such as tool chain which contains GCC compiler, assembler, linker and debugger etc.
