Two language models using Chinese semantic parsing

Tsinghua Science and Technology, 2006

This paper presents two language models that utilize a Chinese semantic dependency parsing technique for speech recognition. The models are based on a representation of the Chinese semantic structure with dependency relations. A semantic dependency parser was described to automatically tag the semantic class for each word with 90.9% accuracy and parse the sentence semantic dependency structure with 75.8% accuracy. ...

Closed world reasoning for OWL2 with NBox

Tsinghua Science and Technology, 2010

This paper describes the problem of doing description logic (OL) reasoning with partially closed world. The issue was addressed by extending the syntax of OL SROIQ with an NBox, which specifies the predicates to close, extending the semantics with the idea of negation as failure, reducing the closed world reasoning to incremental reasoning on classical OL ontologies, and applying the ...

  • Two language models using Chinese semantic parsing

This paper presents two language models that utilize a Chinese semantic dependency parsing technique for speech recognition. The models are based on a representation of the Chinese semantic structure with dependency relations. A semantic dependency parser was described to automatically tag the semantic class for each word with 90.9% accuracy and parse the sentence semantic dependency structure with 75.8% accuracy. The Chinese semantic parsing technique was applied to structure language models to develop two language models, the semantic dependency model (SDM) and the headword trigram model (HTM). These language models were evaluated using Chinese speech recognition. The experiments show that both models outperform the word trigram model in terms of the Chinese character recognition error rate.

  • Closed world reasoning for OWL2 with NBox

This paper describes the problem of doing description logic (OL) reasoning with partially closed world. The issue was addressed by extending the syntax of OL SROIQ with an NBox, which specifies the predicates to close, extending the semantics with the idea of negation as failure, reducing the closed world reasoning to incremental reasoning on classical OL ontologies, and applying the syntactic approximation technology to improve the reasoning performance. Compared with the existing OBox approach, which corresponds to the relation database, the NBox approach supports deduction on closed concepts and roles. Also, the approximate reasoning can reduce reasoning complexity from N2EXPTIME-complete to PTIME-complete while preserving the correctness of reasoning for ontologies with certain properties.

  • ARM® Microcontroller Software and Instruction Set

This chapter provides general information about the ARM® Cortex ® -M4 microcontroller software and instruction set. It first introduces ARM® Cortex ® -M4 Assembly instruction and then discusses the related C codes with some necessary peripheral device driver libraries provided by the vendor. There are about 203 instructions in the ARM® Cortex ® -M4 instruction set excluding the FPU related instructions. The user's source codes developed by assembly language must follow certain rules and meet some requirements to enable the assembler to correctly convert them to the target or object codes. Generally each user's instruction in the user's source code file is composed of four fields: Label field, Operation field, Operands field and Comment field. Pseudo instructions are very useful to help users to build and develop their application programs by providing more controls and managements to the memory space, variables, and constants used in the program.

  • Building a parallel Corpora: Translation issues and remedial case

In a multilingual country like India, language translation plays a prominent role in the field of text processing and applications, such as, machine learning, machine translation, information extraction, information retrieval, and natural language understanding systems. There are many issues and challenges in translation between languages such as lexical divergences, ambiguities, lexical mismatches, reordering, syntactic and semantic issues, structural changes etc. In this paper, we have presented a comparative analysis by highlighting some of the crucial issues, challenges and solutions in translation from Hindi to Malayalam language, while executing Indian Language Corpora Initiative (ILCI) project of DeitY, GoI. In this analysis, we have found that Malayalam and Hindi have very distinct structures in linguistic levels like phonological, lexical and syntactic, which has to be handled carefully in translation.

  • Parallel syntax analysis on multi-core machines

A multi-core machine has more than one execution unit per CPU on single motherboard. With the advent of multi-core machines parallelization has become an essential part in recent compiler research. Parallel parsing is one of the areas that still needs significant work to utilize the inherent power of multi-core architecture. This paper presents an algorithm that performs parallel syntax analysis of C programs on multi-core architecture. Reasonable speed-up up to 6 was achieved on syntax analysis of C files of GCC 4.8.3.

  • Question classification for medical domain Question Answering system

Question classification plays an important role in question answering system. It helps in finding or constructing accurate answers and hence improves the quality of Question Answering systems. The question classification approaches generally used are: Rule based, Machine learning and Hybrid. This paper presents our research work on question classification through rule based approach. The question processing module helps in assigning a suitable question category and identifying the keywords from the given input question. A prototype system based on the proposed method has been constructed and the experiment on 500 medical questions collected from patients and doctors has been carried out. Using the two layered taxonomy of 6 course grain and 50 fine grained categories developed by Li and Roth, we have classified the questions into various categories. We have also studied the syntactic structure of the question and suggest the syntactic patterns for particular category of questions. Using these question patterns we have classified the question into particular category. In this paper we have proposed a compact and effective method for question classification. The experimental output shows that even with small set of question categories we can classify the questions with more satisfactory and better result.

  • Specification of attribute relations for access control policies and constraints using Policy Machine

Attribute relations in access control mechanisms or languages allow accurate and efficient specification of some popular access control models. However, most of the access control systems including today's de-facto access control protocol and specification language, XACML, does not provide sufficient syntactic and semantic support for the specification of attribute relations in their scheme. In this paper, we show the deficiencies of XACML in specifying such capabilities in the implementations of the Multilevel Security, Hierarchical Role Based policies and Separation of Duty requirements of access control systems. In comparison, we then demonstrate the attribute relation mechanism provided by a relation-based access control mechanism - the Policy Machine.

  • Hot topic detection in Chinese web forum using statistics approach

In this paper we propose a statistics approach for hot topic detection in Chinese web forum. In order to solve the fundamental obstacles of Chinese web data mining, such as new words, nonstandard syntax and Chinese word segmentation, we present the longest common segmented consecutive subsequence (LCSCS) and other techniques. The algorithm can run even without prior knowledge. Our experiments show the satisfying results both in performance and quality.
