Using the same concept, IM is exploited and used for system administration purpose. This paper briefly describes the functionality provided by a developed IM bot that provide system administrator with remote machine status and information. The tool proactively detects the machine presence on the IM network thus allowing system administrator to interact with them. With the real-time nature of IM, this tool would benefit system administrator with real-time system status and notification messages. In addition, the machine list within IM provides system administrator with the inventory of the machines currently being maintained. The output comparison between the program's plugin and the result from the system as shown through Linux terminal are provided which includes the information of system load average, system memory usage, logged-in user and notification service.

In this paper, the author suggests an approximation of an IMS-node mathematical model that permits to evaluate characteristics of the network core. This research provides practical information about signaling traffic and sojourn time in a real IMS network, that could be used during current VoIP networks modernization and new networks design.

  • The effect of mobile social media's functions on communication pattern

With the emergence of mobile Internet and social media, human relationship has evolved into a new form due to the much broader reach and more efficient communications enabled by information technology. This paper examines communication pattern and personal social networks transformation on a popular mobile messaging app. The functions can be classified into information, social and other functional dimension. We find out the functional dimension will probably decrease the frequency of contact and chatting activity.

  • Security issues in unified communications

Unified Communications have the potential to dramatically simplify and improve enterprise communications, reducing costs and improving revenue opportunities. However, these benefits do not come without risks. The introduction of an IP- based Unified Communications solution brings an array of new vulnerabilities into the enterprise, exploited by a growing number of malicious programs. The most common risks faced by the major dominant technologies used in unified communications solutions are presented and an approach to mitigate them is proposed.

  • A clone of social networks to decentralized bootstrapping P2P networks

Bootstrapping is critical in any P2P network, since, on initial startup, a peer must bootstrap and find at least one neighbor. Existing P2P networks simply rely on centralized servers or static peers for bootstrapping, which may become a single point of failure. Recently, the shutdown of BT web-sites in China has caused a serious problem in BT bootstrapping. A decentralized way to bootstrap P2P networks is to clone existing social networks. In particular, a new peer obtains addresses of potential neighbors by sniffing instant messaging packets (e.g., MSN or QQ packets). With such addresses, the peer can bootstrap neighbors and join the network without the help of any centralized server.

  • Research for key technologies of internal instant messaging system development

This article describes the implementation in C# of a Client/Server pattern, and the design of an instant message application in LAN. It also included the discussion of the Socket mechanism, I/O streams with the implementation. The software features the core instant messaging core functions, video conference, and file transferring between peers. It is an effective service and also very suitable for the communication within corporations or between companies and clients.

  • A secure private instant messenger

Instant messenger is an IM application that allows communication in a secured manner. A secured private IM is needed to ensure data transmission between sender and recipient more secure. This paper presents a secure IM architecture. A secure architecture is divided into four modules; chat module, transceiver module, secure module, and routing module. In this research, hash algorithm was applied in secure module. The main function of hash algorithm is to encrypt and convert into hash value. The purpose of this encryption is to ensure unauthorized person cannot view the original data or information through the network. IM application was developed and tested. The result indicates this architecture and hash algorithm able to improve level of data security.
