  • Study on the landscape pattern evolution of Geyucheng Natural Reserves

    The scientific and reasonable evaluation of ecological pattern and environmental status, as well as the launch of nature conservation and ecological protection and management is of great significance. In this paper, Landsat-TM image data of 2009 and 2013 was selected with Geyucheng as the study area, and analysis is carried out for changes in the landscape of the study area with RS and GIS technology. According to the results, there were different degrees of type transformation in the land use. The number of landscape path increased; the average patch area decreased; the landscape fragmentation degree was aggravated and patch distribution was more separate. Seen from landscape heterogeneity, the difference in the proportion of all patch types increased, which was out of balance. Seen from the complexity of landscape space, the shape of landscape patch tended to be simplified. The overall landscape aggregation degree dropped constantly, and the landscape pattern stability declined, suggesting that the natural landscape was impacted by human disturbance more and more severely.

In this respect, we systematically investigate the properties of statistical methods for MWAS and compare their performances using simulation data generated from Human Microbiome Project data. We first assessed the type I error rates of eight commonly used methods over different levels of sparsity. Among these, ANCOM and metagenomeSeq methods yielded the well preserved type I error rates regardless of sparsity. In the power comparison study, metagenomeSeq showed higher power than ANCOM. In conclusion, we recommend using metagenomeSeq for the analysis of metagenome data.

The nano-hole arrays are attached to the air inlets, which are located the tip of the tube and sides of the sphere. When airflow is applied to the Pitot tube, air passes through the nano-hole arrays, and differential pressure between two inlets acts on the piezoresistive cantilevers. On the other hand, when locating in water, the nano-hole arrays protect the water penetration into the tube. The Pitot tube will be used for the airspeed measurement of flying marine birds.

The environmental background value of Cr in 1981 were 0.48 μg L-1-0.88 μg L-1. By means of the dynamic value, basic background value, environmental background value and source input value, the changing processes and trends of Cr contents could be easily defined.

  • Using pairwise difference features to measure temporal changes in the microbial ecology

    The exponential affordability of DNA sequencing technologies has enabled not only the accessible and rapid sequencing of the human genome, but the opportunity to sequence vast numbers of multi-cellular organism and the tiniest microbes. Studying the microbes in the human body has led us to the view that the human body is not a single organism but rather a symbiotic ecology of microbes and human cells. The microbiome is referred to the collection of microorganisms in our body (consisting mostly of bacteria, archaea, and some eukarya) and outnumber our human cells ten to one. Numerous studies suggest that the microbiome may play a critical role in a number of autoimmune diseases, with most research on inflammatory bowel disease. The microbiome ecology can be thought of as a composition of the relative abundance of a large number of organisms that reside in our bodies. Numerous studies suggest that disruptions in the relative abundance of a healthy microbial ecology leads to a disease state. The challenge remains, however, in understanding how and what changes in the composition of the ecology leads to a disease state.

  • Ecosystem mapping in mountainous areas by fusing multi-source data and the related knowledge

    Mapping and modeling the complex ecosystems and their changes over time are key issues in spatial ecology, biogeography, ecosystem ecology and biodiversity researches. This paper attempts to propose a simple, practical and automatic method to produce the ecosystem map in mountainous areas by fusing multi-source data and the related knowledge. The multi-source data included the 30m-resolution land cover map and the vegetation map of China (1:1 000 000). Three fusion strategies were contained in the proposed approach: hard matching, buffer matching and merged categories matching. Meanwhile, the related spatial distribution knowledge and the law of spatial distance decay were used to determine the optimal vegetation type, when more than two vegetation types are matched simultaneously. Taking the Southwestern China as study area, a new 30m-resolution ecosystem map with 144 ecosystem types was generated by the proposed method, which was used to establish the red list of ecosystems and evaluate the condition of biodiversity in the White Paper: China's Biodiversity.

  • Assessment of Landscape Multifunctionality in Inner Mongolia, China

    Landscape functions refer to the material or immaterial products that landscapes provide for humans, such as water purification and soil conservation. The study of multifunctional landscapes is becoming an important research direction in landscape ecology, which provides an effective approach to achieving sustainable landscape management. Taking Inner Mongolia as study area, this paper aimed to identify the spatial distribution of multifunctional landscape, and make clear the relationship between each ecological function. The results show that landscape functions have obvious spatial heterogeneous distributions. Carbon fixation and oxygen release, water conservation, biodiversity show a downward trend from east to west, while soil conservation mainly distributes in the east; conspicuous trade-offs or synergies exist between all pairs of landscape functions, which should be considered in landscape management.
