    This paper presents the review/monitoring history of all kind of service equipment organization on common platform with identical format for information entry. The equipment covers ranges of all sizes, cost, portability and its use for different applications like emission measurement, safety measurement, environmental conditioning, on road measurements, etc. Micro level information data consists of equipment information (Installation date, cost etc), daily usage, observation of condition of equipment, maintenance solution, down time etc. This also provides information on availability of equipment, its actual use and tracking of maintenance data with fault processing. Recording of technical and financial information of ongoing activities including utilization is done on daily basis. The information is linked to various analysis tools. It has Inbuilt feature to measure, calculate and compare the equipment performance, to move towards achievements of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and six sigma business development strategy. Analysis module consists of age analysis to follow bath tub curve in its full life cycle (Infant Mortality Rate), uncertainty in breakdown faults, cause- effect analysis, root cause analysis, time and condition of component failures, With the help of analysis tools the module is allowing us to review and draw action plans to remove all root causes, update preventive maintenance plans, proper planning step to move towards predictive maintenance and zero breakdown. It gives effective input to improve user vigilance for use of equipment. It also gives us equipment classification based on age, time, periodic utilization and /cumulative utilization, technological change by Stochastic dynamic programming solutions. By this module we can correctly quantify and assess break-down status and thereby reduce breakdowns significantly. We also can analysis reliability, availability, failures, machine up time, cost analysis for asset utilization like fix capital intensity, cost of repairs, equipment utilization % turn over, etc. This total data of all equipment (organization) are on one platform so we can go through all equipment history with analysis in one look. This platform consists of crew of equipment users, maintenance engineers & managers, so all are connected with each other with their responsibility. The module provides operational backbone and used to provide inputs to management on: 1. Emergency plans to overcome critical equipment areas. 2. The aim of this presentation is: (1) to outline the efficiency of computer- aided energy management and optimization; and (2) to discuss new ways of training energy managers using multimedia structures and methods. Interactive, team-oriented learning-by-doing systems (CBT, management business games), together with supporting seminars and management software tools, are major keys to effective plant operations.

It's realized by using data from CMMS to calculate the intensity of failures of mining machines components and systems. The calculations are based on quantitative and qualitative data of failure proceed from CMMS. The article presents a case study of the intensity of failures level analysis for the hydraulic system of the haul trucks and its selected component - hydraulic pump.

  • An integrated approach to reliability assessment, maintenance and life cycle costs in the National Grid Company

    The National Grid Company (NGC) owns and operates the high voltage (400 and 275 kV) transmission system in England and Wales. Among the conditions for the successful application of technology in a modern organisation are the following: sensitivity to trends in the total business environment; commitment to change and the contribution of technology; close cross-functional integration; and, a focus on customer needs. It follows that the contribution that technology can make should be considered to be at least as important as the other more traditional areas of business management. For NGC, these considerations present a significant challenge. It is necessary to ensure that the maintenance and asset replacement strategies developed are based on a thorough understanding of the behaviour and performance of the plant involved. This paper describes some of the techniques that are being used within NGC to meet this challenge.<>

  • Statistical machine control: a practical approach to total productive maintenance of semiconductor equipment

    Statistical Machine Control (SMC) encompasses the total maintenance effect on equipment. This approach steps far beyond the "fix it" attitude that has often been the understood job of a maintenance technician. SMC incorporates Total Quality Management (TQM) practices, the predictive and preventive maintenance programs. The goal of the program is to maximize uptime while continuing: to reduce variation. Variation has an effect on product yields, and equipment can be a major cause of the total variation in a factory. SMC addresses these concerns, and it requires a change in mind set that takes time, training and a lot of energy to bring to fruition. SMC works if the organization is committed to overcome the stumbling blocks along the way. This paper is illustrated with four practical examples.
