Summary form only given. Nanotechnology is currently the focus of much investment in the USA and worldwide. In the USA, the federal government has an initiated a broad and ambitious program entitled the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI). It is important to realize that the NNI involves almost all the various US government agencies that are involved in sponsoring basic research and development. The NNI can be viewed as an umbrella for funding research at the forefront of fields across the hard and soft sciences. It should also be noted that the significant budgets now being dedicated to the NNI are not all 'new' money. In many cases, they represent a redirection of existing budget lines. In addition to this federal program, there are a number of equally ambitious state based programs sponsoring nanotechnology. The California investment is perhaps the most visible and includes the creation of the California Nanosystems Institute. Other states have adopted a similar strategy of leveraging their own investment by attracting federal and private funding. A significant fraction of these state investments is going into bricks and mortar and can perhaps best be viewed as a way to boost investment in the infrastructure of university based research. Ultimately, it is believed that the current US investment in nanotechnology will be beneficial to the economic prosperity of the USA. Interestingly, venture capital firms are investing in nanotechnology start-ups. This comes at a time when venture capital financing has dropped dramatically from the last few years. It seems certain that the range of products and applications will be as diverse as the current nanotechnology investment.

The image contrast of adsorbed azurin is highly affected by the bias potential with proteins visible only for some well-defined voltage values. This experimental demonstration of the possibility to induce tunneling through azurin in air could disclose very interesting perspectives for the development of protein-based hybrid nanodevices operating in nonliquid environments.

This presentation outlines the progress in foundational knowledge development, its current status supporting about $80 billion production incorporating nanoscale components only in the United States, and likely evolution towards a general purpose technology by 2020. Nanotechnology has already powerful implications in knowledge foundation, advanced materials, catalysts, nanoelectronics, molecular medicine, energy conversion and storage. While general trends publications, patent publications, nanotechnology market and R&D funding continue to grow at an average annual rate of about 25%, the content of research and complexity of the new applications is changing significantly about 2010. In the next decade, the focus of R&D is expected to shift to direct measurements on three- dimensional domains, science based design of fundamentally new products based on complex nanosystems, and serving new areas of relevance such as quantum information systems. An increased focus will be on system nanotechnology as applied to sustainable resources including water, food, energy, materials and clean environment.

The architecture of cloud basically uses less and minimum uses of computer, hardware as well as IT Delivery and in this case application of Nanotechnology are no doubt important and valuable. In recent past Nanotechnology has also created a new avenue for another IT technology i.e. Big Data. In this paper basics of Nanotechnology including its applications in computing and information technology etc have well illustrated. Cloud computing-Big Data Management and their current opportunities in connections with Nanotechnology has also well defined. The paper also prepared with the aspects of issues and challenges as well.
A new nanotechnology laboratory course is described with some results from its first pilot offering. The course is based primarily on the preparation and properties of discontinuous metal thin films, but with nano-sintering and CNT percolation experiments also included.
The Office of Cancer Nanotechnology Research is the centerpiece of nanotechnology funding leadership at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health. Its funding portfolio consists of premier academic institutions that engineer state of the art particles and devices to transform cancer diagnosis and treatment. Beyond its research centers, this Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer also funds transdisciplinary training programs for students and early career scientists and engineers. Another essential component of the Alliance is the Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory where the standard protocols of preclinical analysis for newly derived nanoparticles are developed and performed. The guiding mission of the Alliance is to reach beyond basic research and development toward clinical testing as well as product commercialization. At the conclusion of the first Phase of the Alliance that spanned 2005-2010, several hundred patent disclosures had been filed and dozens of industrial partnerships and spin off companies had been formed. Now as the second Phase begins the OCNR and the Alliance look forward to improve on their successful record of technological innovation and developing commercial entities. Beyond the Alliance, the NIH provides funding opportunities for a vast array of research topics that can be applied to health nanotechnologies, many of which can be applied to an electrical engineering audience.
The discipline of nanoscale science has evolved significantly over the last several decades. It has moved from equipment development and discovery at the molecular and atomic level to an increasing number of technology applications and product development. As the discipline has changed so has the approach to training students and employees in the nanoscience area. The educational process has evolved from high level, research based concepts to 2 year programs, nanoscience minors and individual courses. The approaches to nanotechnology education are constantly changing, however an approach that is appearing both in formal and informal venues is that of modularized nanotechnology content. This approach carries the ease of integration as an opportunity, the challenge of creating a complete module and requirements dependent upon location, topic and education level. A summary of these considerations is presented.
Summary form only given. The author reviews progress in the Korean Government plan to develop nanotechnology in the country. The plan focuses on the selected areas that are related with the most commercial potential and the competitiveness over advanced countries. The promising fields are nanodevices, nanomaterials, nano-processing and basic technologies. The government expects the plan to produce at least 10 cutting-edge NTs and to produce 12,600 NT experts by 2010.
Nanotechnology, as an enabling technology, has aspects which support multiple engineering disciplines. Nanoscale demonstrations, activities and experiments have been used to illustrate nanoscale principles as they apply to biological, electrical, material and chemical aspects of engineering topics. The emerging field of nanoscience offers state of the art applications and conceptual development appropriate for multiple levels of engineering education which may enhance learning and student retention.
