What Are NACE Standards?

NACE Standards are technical consensus documents produced by NACE International, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, that define accepted practices for corrosion prevention, surface preparation, protective coatings, cathodic protection, and materials selection in corrosive service. They are developed by volunteer technical committees drawing on the combined experience of engineers from oil and gas, marine, water treatment, chemical processing, and infrastructure industries. Since the 2021 merger of NACE International with the Society for Protective Coatings, these standards have been administered under the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP).

The standards are widely referenced in engineering specifications, government regulations, and project contracts as the minimum acceptable technical practice for corrosion control work.
