What Are Meetings?

Meetings are structured or semi-structured gatherings of two or more participants convened for the purpose of sharing information, making decisions, coordinating work, or achieving some defined objective through direct exchange. They are a fundamental mechanism of organizational life, present in every sector and at every level of an institution, and they have been the subject of sustained research in fields including organizational behavior, human-computer interaction, and cooperative systems design. As communication technology has advanced, meetings have expanded well beyond physical co-presence to encompass telephone conferences, video calls, and asynchronous collaboration platforms.
