The term covers both the immediate outputs of chemical manufacturing, such as polymers, solvents, and fertilizers, and formulated end-use products, such as coatings, adhesives, and cleaning agents, in which multiple chemical components are combined to deliver specific performance characteristics.
Chemical products are categorized by their market volume and degree of specificity. Commodity chemicals are high-volume substances traded largely on price, where production efficiency and raw-material costs determine competitive position. Bulk and Commodity Chemicals
Bulk chemicals include the inorganic acids, alkalis, and gases that serve as primary inputs to downstream manufacturing.
