What Is Bottling?
Bottling is an industrial packaging process in which liquid or semi-liquid products are measured, filled into bottles or other rigid containers, sealed, and prepared for distribution and sale. The process spans a sequence of linked operations, from container rinsing and product filling through capping, labeling, and case packing, and is typically performed on continuous or semi-continuous automated lines capable of processing thousands of containers per hour. The modern bottling line evolved from hand-operated bottling benches used in nineteenth-century breweries and distilleries into highly integrated automated systems.
