    A remote monitoring system of multifunctional direct drinking machine based on Internet of things (IoT) is designed in this paper. The local control system detected the status data of water purifiers according to the temperature sensor, the flowmeter and the water level gauge, then sent the collected parameters to the backstage management system in the cloud by General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) communication network or Wireless Fidelity (WIFI) in real time. Prototype design and applications show that the management system has friendly user interface and is easy to be operated. It may display the working states of the direct drinking machine in real time, manage big data, and support remote operation of the equipment. Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and mobile payment technology are employed to realize automatic user identification, water purchase, information maintenance and other functions. The comprehensive monitoring and controlling system has realized the function of connecting users and multifunctional direct drinking machines in the Internet of things, which has good application potential.

This paper presents a design of an IoT (Internet of Things) based interactive system which combines non-invasive sensors and data acquisition apparatus, robust communication networks, clouds-based databases and web servers to achieve real-time monitoring of energy usage in industries. The collected energy consumption data are published to the data centre automatically through the wireless communication network using the MQTT protocol, while a web server driven by Apache is developed to provide a human- data interaction dashboard in B/S (Browser I Server) structure. The system can not only assist industrial energy management but also provide a platform to improve energy-saving, emission reduction, along with other potentials. The system has been implemented in a local bakery company, confirming its applicability for remote real-time monitoring of energy consumption in the industry.

The platform enables multiple researchers to remotely access a digital microscopy system consisting of very high-resolution CCD-imaging technology coupled with real-time (/spl sim/ 1 Gbps) data transfer throughput. Remote control and image acquisition facilitates collaboration between cellular biologists, tissue engineers and computational scientists studying complex cellular organization dynamics and assembly. The remote control microscope is connected to a local 'server' such that a 'client' using any web browser that supports Java can access it. The 'server' software is written in Java 2 (jdk 1.3). Any Internet user can control the microscope and interact with other users who are on-line or are directly connected. This interactive environment does not impose any hardware or software limitations on the 'clients'. A remote user can control the movement of the stage in X-Y axes, control focus (Z axis), change magnification, change excitation and light emission filters and their corresponding shutters, acquire topographic and fluorescent images from the microscope and process theses images. The tele- microscopy based environment serves as a focal point for investigators with different expertise to collaborate synergistically on projects that require multi-disciplinary approaches.

    In today's life with the influence and vast usage of Internet of Things (IoT), a surveillance system become an essential needs (no longer a luxury facility) to home residents, buildings and other important premises. This project deals with web-based and mobile app surveillance system using Raspberry Pi and its supporting components i.e., Pi Camera, PIR motion sensor, Ultrasonic sensor, web-based & mobile application. This proposed solution can be implemented over the internet using any computer and mobile devices from anywhere and anytime. The use of Raspberry Pi has given the ability to operate and control the motion detectors, distance of the intruders and video cameras for remote sensing and surveillance. The cameras automatically stream live video and the raspberry pi device will send an alert via email and SMS to the facility owners' computer or mobile devices. It is considered as a cost-effective solution, customizable and easy to implement by the home residents outside their home residents in comparison with other commercial surveillance system products such as CCTV, IP Camera, etc.

    According to the information status of agroecological environment and development trends, to achieve its automation, the paper proposes a sensor- based wireless network platform for Intellective greenhouse environment control systems. The system is intelligent to adjust vegetables' needed for growth environment, including temperature, light, CO<inf>2</inf>, concentration and other factors, which consist of the cultivation conditions and nutrient solution physical and chemical properties, in order to make it possible to meet the needs of crop growth. The simulation experiment shows that this skill provides intelligent online dynamic parameters of the greenhouse environment control, remote data acquisition and transmission of real-time and reliability.

  • Automatic RAS data acquisition and processing system using fog computing

    Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) enables high density fish farming and said to be the key technology to allow world aquaculture community to supply per capita needs for aquatic species over the coming decades with environmentally and friendly manner. RAS offers controlled environment which permits product growth rate control and predictable harvesting schedule. Two parameter categories need to be monitored in RAS - direct and indirect. Direct parameter like pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen and some other water quality parameter exist as natural elements. The indirect parameter comes from the calcution based on stock capacity that will affect the content of these natural parameters. Extensive data acquisition and analysis will determine the success of RAS. The vast number of data will affect the network traffic especially if the system is cloud-based. Fog computing offers reduction of network traffic by providing a platform to filter and analyse the data generated by the devices. Real time decision and control also will be another advantageous in using fog technology. By using embedded system together with open source technology which offer small size, low cost, light weight, protable, high efficiency and low power consumption this paper will show how the RAS system can be equipped with fog computing in order to form an automatic data acquisition and monitoring system.

WSNs may consist of up to thousands of nodes, which can be deployed in very high density, in homes, highways, buildings, cities, and infrastructures for monitoring and/or controlling purposes. This introduction to emerging WSN applications reveals how developments in micro- and nanotechnology have aided advancements in WSNs and highlights implementation of several real systems that hint of tomorrow's potential.

  • Research of real-time image acquisition system based on ARM 7 for agricultural environmental monitoring

    The internet of things (IOT) has brought a broader space to the intensive development of modern agriculture in the application of agricultural environmental monitoring. To solve the problems of real-time video acquisition, image acquisition and motion capture in the agricultural environment, this paper use the ARM S3C44B0X as the processor and put forward a new kind of real-time video acquisition technique based on 32bits embedded processor system. the optimized and minimized hardware system is designed, including designs the GAL gathering controller to control the output digital video signal data form SAA7111A to the frame buffer storage memory Al422, and expanded the interface of FLASH, SDRAM, CF Card, RS232, JTAG and so on; Secondly, through the transplanting of U-boot and uClinux system, the improved moving object examination algorithm using the difference of background was proposed based on the software platform constructed. Finally, the debug process of the unit circuit of the whole system is introduced in proper sequence. As a result, the digital image collecting system based on ARM S3C44B0X exists as a sole unit, and has lots of advantages such as small volume, low cost, good expansion, multifunctional and low power consumption. The system realized the functions of real-time video acquisition and processing. Combined with the GPS module and other sensors, the system can be widely used in the aspects of agricultural environmental monitoring, real-time data acquisition and remote monitoring and so on, with a more broad application prospects.
