Spontaneous emission

View this topic in
Spontaneous emission is the process by which a light source such as an atom, molecule, nanocrystal or nucleus in an excited state undergoes a transition to a state with a lower energy, e.g. , the ground state and emits a photon. (Wikipedia.org)

Double injection into a trap-free insulator with blocking electrodes

Conference on Electrical Insulation & Dielectric Phenomena — Annual Report 1967, 1967

The problem of double injection into an insulator having ohmic contacts and a finite electron-hole recombination rate has been studied by Parmenter and Ruppel,1 who have given an exact solution, and also by Lampert,2 who has used physical ideas to develop flexible approximate methods that can be applied to this problem.

Survey of noise in semiconductor diodes and triodes

1958 IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference. Digest of Technical Papers, 1958

Summary form only given. Shot noise in semiconductor diodes and triodes is white at low frequencies and increases at high frequencies. The simple assumption that fluctuations in electron-hole-pair creations, motions, and recombinations are perfectly random permits a satisfactory understanding of this noise.
