  • An Assessment Method of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Mission Planning Quality Based on Bayesian Network

    Aiming at the complexity of the mission planning result assessment index, the subjective factors of the assessment system and the unreasonable assessment method, an assessment method of mission planning quality based on static Bayesian network is proposed. In this paper, the mathematical model of mission planning assessment is established. According to the expert knowledge, each impact factor and its conditional probability table are established. The variable elimination algorithm is used to make objective and quantitative reasoning of the mission planning result. From the simulation results, the static Bayesian method has high applicability and accuracy for the assessment of mission planning results with diverse indicators, different dimensions and vague values.

  • Mission planning of agile satellites for multi-targets observation

    Mission planning is an effective support and important guarantee for agile satellites to implement earth observation missions. According to traditional mission planning methods by which the mission and attitude are independently planned, the observation efficiency of agile satellites cannot be fully utilized. This paper considers the cooperative planning of mission and attitude, and establishes a multi-objective cooperative planning model of agile satellites based on dynamic traveling salesman model. In view of the complexity of the encoding method for the traditional single genetic algorithm, a novel algorithm combining genetic algorithm and polynomial fitting is proposed to reduce the encoding dimension of genetic algorithm. In this algorithm, quintic polynomials are used to estimate the attitude paths, and genetic algorithm is used to provide the cooperative planning with the observation order and the relative observation time. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can output the smooth attitude path and the convergence speed can be improved.

The logic architecture of multi-UCAV cooperation mission planning system was put forward, and two key sub-problems, that is mission assignment and path planning, were analyzed.

Secondly, a planning model was built, including an improved objective based on both task profit and timeliness, and the constraints to satisfy. And then genetic algorithm was used to solve the model. Finally, a case was calculated to verify the effectiveness of the model and algorithm put forward.

  • An application on the mission planning of UAV swarm

    Within the scope of this work, a combat intelligence, surveillance and attack scenario is designed. Solutions to the problem of planning for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), which function in a host of possible enemy elements in a given area, have been produced. The solution of this problem includes; general mission planning, and the creation of mission partitioning algorithms for each UAV, as well as the creation of relative route plans that each aircraft will perform. In this regard, results related to the theoretical and laboratory test results of the studies carried out under a field application with real systems are shared.

  • Underwater Mission Planning Algorithm of Mustered Helicopters

    This paper discusses the mission planning problem of helicopters mustered to search the underwater target in the appointed area. The dipping sonar is considered to be used based on the analysis of different searching machines. The mission planning including the computation of search time, the coordinates of the detection dots, is proposed to solve the mission planning problem. Finally, the solution and an example of the proposed algorithm are given.

  • Mission Planning Method for Planetary Rover Based on Path Planning

    This paper decribes the method of mission planning for planetary rover. Based on differences and relationships between mission planning and path planning, path planning method used in mission planning is described briefly at first. Then focus on the constraints in mission planning and strategies to deal with it, including time, resource and communication. Control of solar panel to realize effective charging and control of directional antenna to communicate with ground station are discussed. In the end, the simulation of planning in virtual reality environment is shown. The simulation result proves the effectiveness of the method. The content in this paper would contribute to further researches and implementation in planetary exploration project.

  • Flexible and Complemental Human-Automation Collaborative Architecture for Mission Planning

    Mission planning system is a classical Human-Automation Collaborative system that involves the integration of human decision making and an automated system. During developing such a collaborative system, the question often arises as to where, when, and how much humans and automation should be in the decision-making loop. Future envisioned mission planning system will be carried out in more complex and dynamic environments. This question mentioned above is becoming more and more critical in defining efficient and effective mission planning system architectures. However, little progress has been made in solving it effectively. This paper elaborates our experience during our efforts to solve this question and presents a Flexible and Complemental Human- Automation Collaborative architecture. In this architecture, there are four phases: division, allocation, process, and flexible collaboration and complementation. This architecture can balance role and function allocation across humans and automation in some degree. In addition, we also apply it to Rapidly exploring Random Tree algorithm for path planning to check its effectiveness.
