Development of Dynamic Muscle Model with Functional Electrical Stimulation

Jailani, R.; Tokhi, M.O.; Gharooni, S.; Hussain, Z. Complexity in Engineering, 2010. COMPENG '10., 2010

This paper presents the development of paraplegic muscle model with Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). A series of experiments using Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) with different stimulation frequencies, pulse width and pulse duration to investigate the impact on muscle output torque are conducted. The data that is obtained is used to develop the paraplegic muscle model. 500 training data and ...

Passive walking with knees

McGeer, T. Robotics and Automation, 1990. Proceedings., 1990 IEEE International Conference on, 1990

It is shown that passive dynamic walking, a phenomenon originally described for bipeds having straight legs, also works with knees. Thus, giving only a downhill slope as a source of energy, a human-like pair of legs will settle into a natural gait generated by the passive interaction of gravity and inertia. No muscular input is required. The physics is much ...

Numerical simulations for dynamic WBAN propagation channel during various human movements

Aoyagi, T.; Minseok Kim; Takada, J.-i.; Hamaguchi, K.; Kohno, R. Medical Information & Communication Technology (ISMICT), 2011 5th International Symposium on, 2011

In this report, we performed six human movement simulation by a commercial software (Poser7). We performed FDTD simulations for body area network propagation with one transmitter and six receivers. Received amplitudes were calculated for every time frame of 1/30 s interval. We also demonstrated a polarization diversity effectiveness for dynamic wearable body area network propagation.

Fall detection using smart phone and ubiquitous pulse wave sensor

Azizul, W.; Imai, S.; Hasegawa, T. Control, Automation and Systems (ICCAS), 2014 14th International Conference on, 2014

We have proposed the fall detection method using acceleration and angular velocity sensor in android device as well as pulse wave sensor in other device. Acceleration and angular velocity are measured by smartphone's sensors while pulse wave is measured by an external sensor. The application software for detecting the start to fall using smartphone, and the ubiquitous pulse wave sensor ...

A new gas circulation RIE

Ohiwa, T.; Sakai, I.; Okumura, K. Semiconductor Manufacturing Conference Proceedings, 1999 IEEE International Symposium on, 1999

A new gas circulation RIE has been developed. It pumps the exhausted gas still containing usable process gas into the RIE process chamber to be reused. This new gas circulation RIE showed equivalent etching performances of etch rate, selectivity to Si, etching profile, and uniformity in C4F8/CO/Ar contact hole etching process compared to the conventional process, with 50% less C4F8 ...
