2009 IEEE Conference on the History of Technical Societies

We will invite papers on the history of the engineering profession, particularly on the role of professional societies in engineering, and emphasis will be on the technical fields served by the IEEE. We expect that historians and engineers will propose papers on publications, standards, professional ethics, and other aspects of the engineering profession. We expect that the majority of papers will deal with the history of particular professional organizations.

Extending Process Improvement into a New Organizational Unit

Nikula, U.; Oinonen, P.; Hannola, L. Software Engineering Conference, 2009. ASWEC '09. Australian, 2009

The importance of software process improvement (SPI) is gaining increasing acknowledgement in software companies. Many companies have started SPI and try to extend it in all the functional units. However, some units may have problems initiating SPI. In this paper an initial level requirements and design practice assessment is presented. The assessment was conducted with a method that was specifically ...

Supporting the Definition of Software Processes at Consulting Organizations via Software Process Lines

Barreto, A.; Duarte, E.; Rocha, A.R.; Murta, L. Quality of Information and Communications Technology (QUATIC), 2010 Seventh International Conference on the, 2010

Software Process Consulting Organizations (SPCOs) support other organizations to define, deploy, and improve their software processes. Usually they are requested to define similar processes to different organizations, leading to some process reuse opportunities. Software Process Lines (SPLs) are reusable process architectures that model similarities and variabilities among processes, and could be of great value for SPCOs to derive multiple processes ...
