Games on Production Safety between Employer and Employee without and with Government Regulation

Suxia Liu; Qiang Mei; Bin Shen; Zanzan Zhang 2009 International Conference on Information Management, Innovation Management and Industrial Engineering, 2009

The process of establishing labor-capital relationship between enterprise and employee is a game. The game model of imperfect information between employer and employee on production safety is developed, and its equilibrium solution is solved and discussed. Then government regulation is introduced to that game and the new equilibrium solution is re-analyzed. We find that the probability of enterprise' s giving ...

A formal framework for prefetching based on the type-level access pattern in object-relational DBMSs

Wook-Shin Han; Kyu-Young Whang; Yang-Sae Moon IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, 2005

Prefetching is an effective method for minimizing the number of fetches between the client and the server in a database management system. In this paper, we formally define the notion of prefetching. We also formally propose new notions of the type-level access locality and type-level access pattern. The type-level access locality is a phenomenon that repetitive patterns exist in the ...

Retrieval of images using rich region descriptions

L. Cinque; F. Lecca; S. Levialdi; S. Tanimoto Proceedings. Fourteenth International Conference on Pattern Recognition (Cat. No.98EX170), 1998

We present a combination of techniques which can improve recall in image retrieval systems: a fast image segmentation algorithm suitable for color images which enables one to describe images in a database using multiple segmentations. A simple example shows that the use of a "rich description" satisfies a broader range of queries

Impact of Intellectual Property Protection on Foreign Direct Investment of Southern Firms

Yanlin Sun; Canhua Kang 2008 IEEE Symposium on Advanced Management of Information for Globalized Enterprises (AMIGE), 2008

This paper makes pioneering attempts to explore the impact of intellectual property protection (IPP) on the technology-seeking foreign direct investment (FDI) by firms in less-developed countries (southern firms). Introducing the patent-racing idea into Gournot model, the paper develops an original model of technology- seeking FDI decision made by southern firms influenced by IPP. We found that stronger IPP in less-developed ...
