Demodulation of Fiber-Optic Sensors for Frequency Response Measurement

Abdi, A.M.; Watkins, S.E. Sensors Journal, IEEE, 2007

The neural-network-based processing of extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometric (EFPI) strain sensors was investigated for the special case of sinusoidal strain. The application area is modal or cyclic testing of structures in which the frequency response to periodic actuation must be demodulated. The nonlinear modulation characteristic of EFPI sensors produces well-defined harmonics of the actuation frequency. Relationships between peak strain and harmonic ...

Enhancement of thermo-oxidative aging resistance of ramie fiber/HDPE composites using tetrakis[methylene(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyhydrocinnamate)]methane as antioxidant

Wen Lei; Chao Ren; Tao Huang; Lei Lei Consumer Electronics, Communications and Networks (CECNet), 2011 International Conference on, 2011

Ramie fiber and high density polyethylene (HDPE) were used as raw materials, ramie fiber/HDPE composites were prepared by compression molding process, tetrakis[methylene(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyhydrocinnamate)] methane(1010A) was used as anti-oxidant, the thermo-oxidative aging test was carried out and the variations in properties of different composites during aging were studied. The results show that, the composite containing 3%1010A has the greatest flexural strength at ...

Remote fiber test system with network element database and geographic information system

Ozawa, K.; Hishikawa, Y.; Watanabe, K.; Maki, H. Communications, 1999. APCC/OECC '99. Fifth Asia-Pacific Conference on ... and Fourth Optoelectronics and Communications Conference, 1999

A remote fiber test system (RFTS) with network elements (NE) database and geographic information system (GIS) has been developed. It performs regularly scheduled measurements, and if any changes in the optical network are detected, it delivers the alarm, indicates its location on the map, and offers the data necessary for the repair and restoration.

Investigation of thermal fatigue life scatter of IVH in PWB

Takenaka, K.; Qiang Yu Thermal and Thermomechanical Phenomena in Electronic Systems (ITherm), 2012 13th IEEE Intersociety Conference on, 2012

In this study, Printed Wiring Board (PWB) specimens with Interstitial Via Hole (IVH) were exposed to thermal cycling test, and the thermal fatigue life scatter of IVH was investigated by Finite Element Analysis (FEA), taking into consideration the influence of interactions between different processes during manufacturing. Focusing on laminated structure of PWB, the FEA was conducted with detailed modeling of ...

Biomedical thermometry-a simple fiber optic approach

Grattan, K.T.V.; Khalil, N.; Palmer, A.W. Biomedical Engineering, IEEE Transactions on, 1988

A portable, fluorescence-based fiber-optic thermometer for use in the 30-50 degrees C range has been constructed using inexpensive solid state electronic and optoelectronic components. A novel measurement scheme allows greater noise discrimination to be achieved with such low bandwidth components. The system is described and discussed, and results of its calibration are reported.
