Two-dimensional barcode decoration based on real-coded genetic algorithm

Satoshi Ono; Kensuke Morinaga; Shigeru Nakayama 2008 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence), 2008

This paper proposes a system for decorating 2-dimensional barcode with some illustrations inside the code without detracting machine-readability and stored information. The proposed system formulates the task of finding appropriate positions, scales, and angles of illustrations, and solves the task by using real-coded genetic algorithm. The proposed system also uses multiple barcode decoder with the aim of improving decode feasibility ...

An Online Bayesian Networks Model for E-Commercial Personalized Recommendation System

Shao-Zhong Zhang; Lu Liu; Yu-Zhi Dong 2007 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2007

This paper presents an online personalized recommended model based Bayesian networks. The model adopts outline learning algorithm for structure and online learning algorithm for parameter. The online parameter learning realizes the online adjusting and correcting for model. The online algorithm is based on the theory of EM and introduces correcting functions to realize online EM. The experimentation shows that the ...

  • Application Capacity Management as an Inventory Management Problem

This chapter explores how just-in-time inventory management principles can be applied to lean capacity management of cloud-based applications. Traditional application service production chain reviews the factors that traditionally drove application service providers to adopt a supply-driven or push model of capacity management. Elasticity and demand-driven capacity management considers how cloud eliminates the factors that drove adoption of supply- driven, push capacity management and enable application service providers to adopt more agile demand-driven, pull-capacity management models. There are significant parallels between running an application service business and operating a number of trendy retail stores. Thinking about intangible application capacity as tangible retail merchandise that must be managed as inventory is a useful way to identify important aspects of application capacity management. Inventory management is a critical factor for a retailer, just as capacity management is a critical factor for an application service provider.
