Pulsed laser action in Tm,Ho:LuLiF4 and Tm,Ho:YLiF4 crystals using a novel quasi-end-pumping technique

V. Sudesh; K. Asai; K. Shimamura; T. Fukuda IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2002

A number of good quality thulium and holmium-codoped LuLiF4 and YLiF4 single crystals were successfully grown by the Czochralski crystal growth method under a CF4 atmosphere. Using a novel diode-pumped, quasi-end-pump scheme incorporating two lens ducts, pulsed laser action is achieved in 5%Tm, 0.5% Ho:LuLiF4 and 5%Tm, 0.5% Ho:YLiF4 crystals, at various pulse repetition frequencies and temperatures. At 10 Hz ...

An Analogue Solution of Cable Heat Flow Problems [includes discussion]

E. de Haas; P. J. Sandiford; A. W. W. Cameron Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Part III: Power Apparatus and Systems, 1955

Steady-state heat flow problems related to buried cables can be solved with a simple electric analogue. The soil is represented by graphite-coated paper, and the cables and sinks by fixed electrodes applied with silver paint or by movable copper cylinders. Regions with lower thermal resistivity (t/r) than the main soil body (duct banks, special backfill) are simulated by placing one ...

The influence of internal mechanical tensions on the properties of surface acoustic waves ultrasonic delay lines

M. Matviykiv Proceedings of the International Conference Modern Problems of Radio Engineering, Telecommunications and Computer Science, 2004., 2004

The investigation of the influence of internal mechanical tensions (IMT) on the signal delay period, the form of impulse response (IR) and amplitude- frequency characteristic (AFC) have shown that IMT change acoustic wave velocity and this change in signal-delay period, is also formed by IR and AFC. In addition, deformational effects is to be taken into consideration.

Using PCB technology for calorimetric water flow sensing in HVAC systems - a feasibility study

Thilo Sauter; Samir Cerimovic; Thomas Glatzl; Harald Steiner; Almir Talic; Franz Kohl 2016 IEEE 25th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2016

Optimal operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems can benefit from proper monitoring of the flows in the air ducts and water pipes. For large installations, this requires a large number of networked, Internet of Things (IoT) inspired sensors performing coordinated data acquisition. Cost-effectiveness and robustness are major issues for the design of such sensors. This paper investigates ...
