An Object-Oriented Model of Digital Assets Management Systems in Printing Industries

Wan Xiaxia; Xiao Mingsong; Gan Chaohua 2008 International Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering, 2008

Searching, cataloging and retrieving digital information can present hurdles in many assets systems of printing industries. Current methods of storing and retrieving information through databases involve the use of traditional relational architecture model. However, as new technologies and methods evolve, an object-oriented (OO) architecture model can better serve the cataloging needs of those assets systems. This paper explores the possibility ...

Asset-Management of Transformers Based on Condition Monitoring and Standard Diagnosis [Feature Article]

Xiang Zhang; Ernst Gockenbach IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, 2008

In this paper, a methodology is developed to use data acquisition derived from condition monitoring and standard diagnosis for rehabilitation purposes of transformers. The interpretation and understanding of the test data are obtained from international test standards to determine the current condition of transformers. In an attempt to ascertain monitoring priorities, the effective test methods are selected for transformer diagnosis. ...

Basic analysis on cell manufacturing scheduling method with combinatorial auction Integration of local search into auction mechanism

Tatsuya Omori; Toshiya Kaihara; Nobutada Fujii; Susumu Fujii; Masashi Kurahashi; Nobuhiro Hayashi; Shinya Inao 2010 8th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics, 2010

Cell manufacturing systems are widely introduced to cope with the dynamically changing market demands. We propose a scheduling method with combinatorial auction for cell manufacturing systems. Combinatorial auction, that is one of the autonomous distributed scheduling methods, can effectively allocate multiple assets. In this paper, we aim to reduce the calculation time by effective method based on local search. We ...

Predicting transformer service life using simplified Perks' equation and Iowa curves

Qiming Chen; D. M. Egan 2006 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2006

Facing the aging of its large electric transformer assets, PJM, a regional transmission organization (RTO) in eastern US, is testing a new method to model and predict transformers' service lives systematically and objectively. The approach is introduced in this paper. A Bayesian probabilistic method is used to model the uncertainty in the three parameters of Perks' distribution derived from a ...

Managing and supporting complex data networks

E. I. Kaufmann; M. Condry Electro/94 International. Conference Proceedings. Combined Volumes., 1994

A communications network is expensive by nature, because it is service intensive and encompasses high-tech complexity. Over time, the total cost of operating a network can prove to be the costliest portion of a computing infrastructure. But, with special attention to certain aspects of network management and operations, the costs can be converted from an expense to an asset. A ...

Being prepared for your future career progression is referred to as career asset management. Since your career is your earning power for paying back your debts and financing your retirement, it is perfectly logical to think of it as an asset. Humans protect their worldly assets, their houses, their families. Why not protect their earning power and their careers? With many companies cutting back their human relations and employee development departments, training budgets tend to be very localized, and somewhat reduced in size and scope from what they once were. More responsibility falls on the shoulders of departmental managers and their staffs. It is up to employees and managers to talk about, and perhaps plan, for employees? futures -- but the bulk of the responsibility rests with the employees?

  • Asset Management Process

This chapter contains sections titled: Introduction Process Implementation Activity Asset Storage and Retrieval Definition Activity Asset Management and Control Activity Summary References

  • Data Asset Management

Successful adoption of Data as a Service (DaaS) is based on three factors: the quality of data and content, underlying architectural principles used for management, and real-world experiences of how to distribute them to consumers in an effective manner. This chapter provides a detailed overview of the major categories of data that can be considered significant and shared across the enterprise including master data, reference data, analytical data, and big data. Data asset management (DAM) ensures that all of an organization's data content gets treated as corporate assets with tangible value. The chapter discusses how often most organizations lack a standard information delivery system in relation to sharing enterprise data. The implementation of DAM is most effective within an organization when they support enterprise information management (EIM) policies that aim to improve data quality and governance.

  • Asset Management Based on Condition Monitoring and Risk Evaluation

Equipment condition monitoring technologies have been rapidly developed with the progress of electronic devices and information technology. This chapter presents asset management methods based on both equipment condition monitoring and system risk evaluation. Two management strategies are presented. One is the maintenance strategy of nonaged overhead lines and the other is the replacement strategy of aged transformers. In the case of nonaged overhead lines, the key is to build the model for the relationship between condition monitoring information and failure frequency of lines, whereas in the case of aged transformers, the key is to build the model for the relationship between aging condition measurements and unavailability due to aging failure of transformer.

  • Digital Asset Management and Document Management

Digital Asset Management (DAM) is the end???to???end lifecycle management of digital assets, including asset ingestion, asset tagging, asset versioning, asset storage, and asset distribution. Main objectives of a DAM system include providing an asset management platform for optimal asset access, providing asset flows, serving various asset renditions, tagging assets, and supporting content systems for creating a consistent brand experience. This chapter looks at the definition, objectives, trends, and architecture of DAM. It discusses the challenges and best practices of DAM and also looks at capabilities and evolution and the road map of document management. Many business areas such as marketing function, brand management function, media and entertainment industry, publishing industry, training and learning domains, public relations domain, and advertisement domain use digital assets extensively to achieve their business goals. The chapter concludes with a case study of document management solution for a banking portal.
