Dependability differentiation in optical packet switched networks

H. Overby; N. Stol; S. Bjornstad Proceedings of 2005 7th International Conference Transparent Optical Networks, 2005., 2005

Dependability is a crucial issue in future optical packet switched (OPS) networks. In this paper, we present the rationale for a dependability differentiated OPS network. A general model that supports orthogonal differentiation of performance related and dependability related quality-of- service parameters as well as an example of how to differentiate dependability is presented.

TipMe: Personalized advertising and aspect-based opinion mining for users and businesses

Iraklis Varlamis; Magdalini Eirinaki; Dimitris Proios 2015 IEEE/ACM International Conference on Advances in Social Networks Analysis and Mining (ASONAM), 2015

Online advertisements are a major source of profit and customer attraction for web-based businesses. In a successful advertisement campaign, both users and businesses can benefit, as users are expected to respond positively to special offers and recommendations of their liking and businesses are able to reach the most promising potential customers. The extraction of user preferences from content provided in ...

3-D Model Search and Retrieval From Range Images Using Salient Features

Georgios Stavropoulos; Panagiotis Moschonas; Konstantinos Moustakas; Dimitrios Tzovaras; Michael Gerassimos Strintzis IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, 2010

This paper presents a novel framework for partial matching and retrieval of 3-D models based on a query-by-range-image approach. Initially, salient features are extracted for both the query range image and the 3-D target model. The concept behind the proposed algorithm is that, for a 3-D object and a corresponding query range image, there should be a virtual camera with ...

Unobtrusive multi-modal biometric recognition using activity-related signatures

A. Drosou; G. Stavropoulos; D. Ioannidis; K. Moustakas; D. Tzovaras IET Computer Vision, 2011

The present study proposes a novel multimodal biometrics framework for identity recognition and verification following the concept of the so called `on-the-move` biometry, which sets as the final objective the non-stop authentication in an unobtrusive manner. Gait, that forms the major modality of the scheme, is complemented by new dynamic biometric signatures extracted from several activities performed by the user. ...

MarconiNet: overlay mobile content distribution network

A. Dutta; H. Schulzrinne IEEE Communications Magazine, 2004
